Kind of dreading mine-- 3 hours of driving to my Sister-In-Law's house, and we're now taking my mother-in-law, which means I'll be crammed in the back of our sedan with the kids for 3 hours up and 2 hours back. :(
But on the bright side... seeing much of the family on my husbands' side will be good, AND the reason we're taking my mother-in-law was because she had pneumonia and didn't go up earlier in the week, and that she's going tomorrow means she's feeling much better.
Went to Build-a-Bear with the kids today, so they could spend their gift cards and birthday money. From August. *cough* Although I will not be able to set foot in that store until well after Christmas, so it was today or nothing. I hate the mall-- especially during Xmas shopping season.
Christopher got a penguin and a koala bear (he couldn't decide between them, and the penguin is a "Happy Feet" tie-in that won't be there forever). Lauren got yet another bear. Passed on the penguin, though she was tempted.
Some of the clothes change over time, but Christopher is apparently a real sucker for Christmas outfits. He got a Gingerbread suit for his bear last year, and this year got a Santa Suit and a Christmas-tree suit (the tree suit is hilarious). I also persuaded him to buy the pirate suit (!) and not the soccer suit, because how often do you see a pirate suit for a bear? WITH its own parrot. :0 (the parrot was the clincher)
Could not persuade Lauren to buy the Hello Kitty pajamas OR slippers, but she did buy bunny slippers and penguin jammies. I have such a ridiculous weakness for penguins.
There was also an Eskimo suit, complete with little white harp seal, that killed me. But neither of the kids was interested. :( And Lauren showed not the slightest interest in the Candy-Cane-Fairy costume.
I do not know why these things tempt me, but it's the absurd outfits that I get so hung up on. T-shirts and shorts-- meh. Cheerleader outfits-- thumbs down (Lauren got one of those). Something like a pumpkin suit, though? I'd be rooting for that one every time.... :)
