Supernatural Gen Drabbles: Desperate Deals
Title: Desperate Deals
Author: HalfshellVenus
Characters: John, Sam, Dean (Gen)
Rating; PG
Summary: 2x100 drabbles on “bargaining” for supernatural100.

If I hadn’t stopped going to church, John thinks. Maybe then they’d have been passed over and left to their happiness instead of grief.

If I’m good, maybe God will bring her back, Dean thinks. He doesn’t know there’s no undoing, that the dead cannot return and be themselves once life has gone.

If I leave, it will not follow, Sam thinks. But they’re not the cause—the evil exists, and they’re just able to see the signs.

Sam, don’t shoot--Dad might still have a chance! Dean thinks. He doesn’t know the luck they find can never, ever last.

Summonings are what John fixes. He doesn’t call the darkness forth—he sends it back after others set it free.

In the basement of the hospital, he draws the pentagram, mark and sigil. The creature comes through the door and not the floor, but still it comes.

It’s hard to give up the Colt, John finds. He knows he has to, but it’s their future—it’s the only way to win against the Demon that destroyed them all.

It’s not enough; he saw that coming.

Giving himself up is so much easier. That’s the part the boys must never know.

Ouch. I thought you had broken my heart with "If I'm good..." but this just slayed me:

Lovely, as always. You pack so much into these that it's really like reading poems and not prose.

Thank you so much! Oh, I'm so tardy getting back to these comments (yipes! A month late!), but I'm so glad you liked them.

These seemed like the two most important "bargaining" instances in the family's past, and it's impossible to ignore either one of them.
