Waiting...
I was finally able to get the biopsy done on Monday. No word yet on the pathology results, just that the lump was not a cyst as I'd hoped. I have a pre-surgical appointment this afternoon, where the surgeon will either be the one giving me the biopsy news... or the results aren't ready yet and we'll just be covering "what will happen if surgery is needed." *sigh* Much more nervous about this than I was a week ago. :(

Whew, what a relief. The surgeon cancelled our appointment, because the tumor is benign. I am SO relieved. I will get a consult appointment later about removing it, from a different surgeon who handles this type of condition. *breathes* Thank goodness.

It has been rainier than December the past few weeks. It's off-and-on, not really predictable more than a day at a time. Because of Christmas vacation and then rain early in the week when I came back to work, there was a gap of about a month between my last outside bike ride near the office and the one I took on Friday. Well! The construction has died down (yay!), and there was a surprise near my turnaround point: Shetland ponies! There are 2 or 3 of them (one might be a miniature horse?), and a similar-sized donkey. SO cute! There hasn't been much of anything in that field for years, except random rusting farm equipment. So much better than the angry dogs next door, who replaced some chickens and goats, and before that, actual human residents.

I hope they'll be there a while. Who doesn't need random ponies? :D

*hugs* I hope you do get the results and not more iffiness. Hang in there, K. And keep smiling when you can. Positivity! *more hugs*

We all need random ponies. Yes, yes, yes!

Whew-- just got the results. Benign tumor inside the the muscle, which was a huge, HUGE relief. Thank goodness for that.

*hugs*

YES!!!! So relieved!

Will they remove it? Still going under the knife?
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphorshalfshellvenus on January 25th, 2018 11:33 pm (UTC)
Looks like they probably will. It mostly doesn't hurt unless I lean against it, but probably safer to remove in case it gets larger over time.

Less urgent than having to remove something malignant, and then start the chemo & radiation processes.

I'm so, so relieved. *whew*

I can imagine it almost being tangible.

Me too! Thank goodness. And my husband was just terrified, so he's breathing easier now too.

I'm so glad this wasn't something more serious. *hugs*

That's awesome news! I'm so happy for you

I don't even know if I've seen a Shetland pony in real life. I've seen a Clydesdale and it was massive. Made me double down on my fear of horses :D

Thank you! I feel very lucky right now.

Shetland ponies are really cute-- shaggy and small-- their heads are probably a little lower or higher than yours. Though the last time I was REALLY close to one was when I was three, so it seemed like the size of a real horse.

Actual horses are kind of scary to me. Huge, big teeth, and very powerful. :O
Peterpeterb on January 28th, 2018 09:52 pm (UTC)
Shetlands are jolly little chaps. Handsome, dignified, and personable. I'm not big on horses, but Shetlands are good eggs. Almost as good as donkeys.
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphorshalfshellvenus on January 29th, 2018 02:51 am (UTC)
They're really cute, too, but overall considered smart and incredibly strong.

Horses, OTOH, are large and unpredictable...

> the tumor is benign

At once, a massive relief, and a huge terror.

Good news, but scary nonetheless.
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphorshalfshellvenus on January 29th, 2018 02:52 am (UTC)
I feel incredibly lucky that it is benign, though something like a cyst would have been even more welcome. For one thing, they would have drained it during the biopsy and it would be done!

Tumors, ugh. It's like the body gets bored, and decides to start a project for no good reason...
Portdesertport on February 6th, 2018 06:06 am (UTC)
Whew! I'm late to the party, but SO GLAD it's benign. *hugs* Wishing you nothing but excellent health from here on.

Thank you! I have surgery in about 3 weeks to remove the lump, but hopefully, that should be it. :)
