Prison Break Slash Fiction: Impaired Judgment
Title: Impaired Judgment
Author: HalfshellVenus
Characters: Lincoln/Michael (Slash)
Rating: NC-17
Summary: Sometimes you cross a line without even knowing you’re doing it…
Author’s Notes: This one is for dragontatt, who requested Lincoln/Michael slash porn (came out longer than a drabble, but I know she won’t mind). Also written for fanfic100, where I have the slash pairing of Lincoln and Michael. This is for prompt #60, “Drink.”

x-x-x-x-x

Some bad ideas start out like nothing, like “Superman can fly because he has a cape.”

Like “Let me copy your homework just this once.”

Like, “I brought a bottle of Jack Daniels. Let’s drink it.”

This is how Michael and Lincoln find themselves sliding off the sofa in Michael’s buttoned-down smooth-jazz living room. Michael’s not a big drinker, and Lincoln doesn’t know when to quit. Between the two of them, there isn’t enough sense left now to figure out heating up water in a microwave oven.

“So then Ricky… he goes… I can’t believe you broke my nose,” Lincoln gasps out. “And I said… Believe it or don’t, but let me know when you figure out where all that blood’s coming from.

Michael’s shoulders quake with newfound hilarity. “That’s sick.”

“But funny,” Lincoln nods wisely.

“It’s sick that it’s funny,” Michael pretends to argue.

“It’s funny because it’s sick,” Lincoln counters.

“Does this impress the women, this kind of thing?” Michael asks.

Lincoln grins. “Doesn’t have to impress them, but they squeal a lot, and they bat my arms or fall up against me and giggle.”

Michael laughs again. He can just see it—see Veronica, all girly protests and flailing. “God, that’s lame. You’re such a dick.”

“Exactly,” Lincoln waggles his eyebrows, and Michael crosses over into hiccupping hysterics and thuds onto the floor half into Lincoln’s lap.

“It looks a lot like this, actually,” Lincoln continues, like a professor giving a seminar. “And then, Oh Lincoln, you’re so bad! and they do that flirty slapping/giggling thing.”

“You’re killing me,” Michael squeaks out as the tears run down his cheeks. God, it’s so weird and dumb, and no wonder he doesn’t understand women-- because why would they actually fall for this crap? “And then what, you sweep them off their feet?”

Lincoln shakes with laughter, leans in closer. “No, I… I pull them over and comfort them…,” and he pulls Michael to him with broad movements. “Then I kiss them until they forget how it started,” and Lincoln makes kissy lips at Michael while his brother giggles uncontrollably. “Except they don’t do that,” he finishes.

“Do what?” Michael says.

“They don’t laugh! They totally get into it—they melt like butter.”

Michael giggles again. “You are so full of it—I don’t believe that for a minute. Show me this Master Technique, Obi-Wan.”

“Fine,” Lincoln says, and he’s drunk enough to be competitive instead of smart.

He hooks his arm around behind Michael’s neck and lifts his head up into position, moving in for the kill. His mouth is on Michael’s, sure and soft, caressing Michael’s lips with his own more and more strongly. He must have made his point already, because Michael is nearly boneless in his arms, but he forgets about that as he finishes the kiss and feels Michael’s swift intake of breath stir the air against his lips. The sound of that—that tingling sensation—draws Lincoln right back down, and he kisses Michael again and again as Michael’s mouth parts under his and Lincoln feels the velvet pull of Michael suckling on his lower lip.

Whiskey-laced heat flows between them, and Lincoln raises his knee for Michael to lean against. If he had an ounce of sense he’d have stopped this already, but there’s always been too much between them—the two of them everything to each other against a system that would have left them lost and forgotten in an impersonal world.

A sane person would remember that this is his brother (never mind that Michael’s doing more than his share of the kissing). Instead, Lincoln’s head is full of, Oh, oh yeah, just fucking touch me already, touch me now.

Michael shifts between Lincoln’s legs, the movement bringing him in sharp contact with Lincoln’s erection. Lincoln’s tongue is suddenly halfway down Michael’s throat, his hand unbuttoning the fly-front of Michael’s jeans. Michael helps push those pants off, then lifts up and over to the floor, turning and drawing Lincoln down to lie between his legs. The room spins for a moment—Lincoln’s head swimming in a haze of alcohol as the change in position makes him lose his bearings. When he can think again, Michael’s biting his lip and gripping his ass to force him in closer.

Reality ebbs and flows as he thrusts up against Michael, his hips working in little circles as he grinds himself into Michael and feels their hardness trapped between them. Michael moans—kissing him so dirty-hot and wet—and Lincoln’s chest hitches in gasps as Michael’s leg comes around behind him to press him closer, harder, there. He moves faster, faster as Michael grows restless with the sharp, delicious buildup. In three quick breaths Lincoln comes with Michael’s lip caught fast between his teeth, his hips shimmying over Michael’s groin as the climax rolls through him. Michael comes then too, he thinks, or just afterward—his head thrown back and his neck bared to the whims of Lincoln’s eager mouth.

The cling to each other—nearly choking with the intensity—awash in hormones and confusion from the liquor in their veins. Michael’s heartbeat sings up through Lincoln’s body, and Lincoln is torn between What just happened? and So fucking hot.

“You are bad,” Michael breathes now that it’s over. His words tickle Lincoln’s ear, making him shiver with the echo of everything they just did.

“Never said I wasn’t,” Lincoln answers—like it’s a joke instead of the simple, honest truth.

They’ll be hung over six ways from Sunday tomorrow, and with luck they’ll forget this ever happened.

But if not, it looks like Lincoln’s found a new way to fuck things up.

And right now he’s too damn drunk to even be sorry.

Thank you! We're so robbed of it on the show-- we have to get most of it in fanfiction. This had better change in Season 2. ;)

Yeah, so that was hot. Urm, and since you fried my brain, I'm afraid I can't deliver a much better comment than that. My apologies.

There's such a different dynamic (to me) in Sam/Dean vs. Michael/Lincoln. They both sort of grew up in that whole "nobody but each other" lifestyle, but I feel it was more DIRE on the Winchester side which makes it really interesting (IMO) to slash Michael/Lincoln. I see them as HAVING more choice to live and be normal and then more consciously choosing each other than Sam and Dean in some ways. I see Michael/Lincoln as having ALLIED themselves, I guess, whereas with Sam/Dean I see less of a definitive CHOICE. And I am really fascinated by the way you play with the similarities and differences between both sets of brothers in your writing. The love is the same and endless, but the...courtship rites, for lack of a better term are very different and I think you handle that very skillfully.
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphors: PB Final Hughalfshellvenus on August 26th, 2006 05:05 pm (UTC)
I see them as HAVING more choice to live and be normal and then more consciously choosing each other than Sam and Dean in some ways.
Yes, yes. It's more that Sam/Dean are each others' touchpoints in reality, since their life is so out-of-step with any part of the real world. Lincoln and Michael had a tragic childhood, but they are not alone in the kind of misery they shared. They can choose now how that will define them. But for Sam and Dean, one of them wants to choose leaving it behind while the other is too owned by the mindset to even have perspective. If Dean could step back, he might still choose what he has all the same. But he's been denied the foundation that would give him that capability.

So when Lincoln and Michael choose each other... it's really almost a choice to buy more tragedy, rather than cling to the only part of life that works (as it is with Sam and Dean). The motivations are different, and the results will likely be different as well. The contrast is fascinating, and it does change the dynamics entirely.

I love that you think about this so much, BTW. :)

And I'm assuming you liked this story, so thank you!

The last 4 lines of this are heavy. And good. I love how deep even your short pieces run.

Thank you! That is a wonderful compliment. I mostly write the shorter works (sometimes very short), but I want them to feel complete regardless of their size. Usually, "complete" requires depth (in my aesthetics). :)

Also, I still would like to team up with you on a fic if you'd be willing. You can hit me up on AIM at usagijihen, and my email is on my info page.

:D Thank you. I've had some practice with these two characters. Not quite a year with them, but almost.

Also, I still would like to team up with you on a fic if you'd be willing.
I actually haven't ever done that before, even with authors that I know very well. So if you don't mind, I would rather decline right now-- though I very much appreciate the offer. Perhaps in time, as I come to know you better, I may feel differently.

You also seem interesting. :3 I'm not a stalker I swear. >_>
Hee! I just take that as a compliment, not as a sign of stalkerism. I never assume people are stalkers, unless they're relentlessly calling me on the phone or filling up my mailbox. In which case they could also be telemarketers. ;)

I've just realised one of the reasons I love your writing so much... The characters don't actually have to fuck in order for you to describe them making love. Does that make sense? You seem to have a brain-gooing effect on many people :D

The characters don't actually have to fuck in order for you to describe them making love. Does that make sense?
Yes, it absolutely does. Love-making to me is really an interpersonal dynamic, that can cover everything from touching to kissing to the full-out physical joining. At different stages in interaction, it might be some or all of these things.

And I can't tell you how much I love hearing that, BTW. I occasionally write just the raw sex and heat, but most often it's lovemaking even when it's brief or PWP-ish. It's just my personal style, I guess. Thank goodness there are readers who like it as well. :D

THIS is the best part ever. Because (I only discovered this last year, and I was shocked) most of the world watches it in real-time, or at least has that option. Australia tends to be what-- 6 or 9 months behind? But with the Web, you don't have to wait and try to stay spoiler-free for such a huge amount of time (nearly impossible).

Since Prison Break drove me to be active on LiveJournal and such, I have no idea how long this has been going on. But I was so surprised to find that the rest of the world has access to American television as it airs-- rather than syndicated dribbles and drabbles years later. And how fabulous is that? :D

Nice. I especially like the banter, and how too much alcohol quickly turns things from just a joke or a game to something serious. And Lincoln realizing despite his inebriation that he may have screwed things up again (and of course taking all the responsibility for it).

I have such a ridiculous weakness for banter. In so many fandoms (and I know you share several of them). :)

and how too much alcohol quickly turns things from just a joke or a game to something serious.
Dropping all the inhibitions that we wisely listen to the rest of the time. I sometimes think Lincoln's life is a trail of lowered-inhibitions and low-impulse-control.

(and of course taking all the responsibility for it).
It's so Lincoln to do this-- AND so very him to also do all the dumbass things that lead to a situation that someone DOES have to take responsibility for. I mean, sad to say, to some degree he's right.

Great stuff! Love the kiss, especially the part about the swift intake of breath and the tingling sensation--it was completely aerodynamically sound. It was truly original.

Love the drunken Lincoln and giggly Michael, very romantic.

It's not easy to write a drunken sex fic. It tends to become more smutty than romantic as both partners are besides themselves. You've managed to successfully avoid that by showing us the long history / mounting chemistry between the two. So the alcohol served nothing more than a sparkle of fire in a room doused with gasoline, a catalyst, if you will. It disinhibited both of them and brought their true feelings to the surface. Very hot.

The whole story really hinges on that moment-- on whether Lincoln's kiss is persuasive enough, and whether Michael's reaction to it will tip Lincoln over the edge into doing something more stupid than he's already begun. It was so important to get that right.

It's not easy to write a drunken sex fic. It tends to become more smutty than romantic as both partners are besides themselves.
You're right-- and I wanted to avoid having them just falling down stupid through the whole thing, because there are deeper issues at work that make this even possible and that create both the heat and the potential for trouble afterwards.

So the alcohol served nothing more than a sparkle of fire in a room doused with gasoline, a catalyst, if you will. It disinhibited both of them and brought their true feelings to the surface.
I really couldn't have explained this better myself. It describes it all perfectly.

I so much enjoy your thoughtful feedback, DragonMaiden. Always. :)

Oh wow, really really hot. Really hot.
Eeee! Thank you so much!

I love that their competive drunken brother thing leads them to dangerous places.
Oh, Lincoln especially. I think part of Lincoln's story is the tendency to get competitive at all the wrong times-- playground fights, bar fights, stupid bicycle stunts (you just know he did that), and proving his sexual prowess. And finally, he crosses a line he really shouldn't have...

It slides very naturally into their kiss - lovely job on getting over the first-time-awkward thing.
That was the hardest part of this story, as you might imagine. Getting to and across that moment without making it seem forced or false was a major challenge. Everything hinges on that kiss.
