Our son bought a new banana costume this year, since the "Adult Small" one no longer fits him. He was tempted by the "ear of corn" costume, but it's only sold online, and he waited until the day before Halloween to take action.

The new, improved banana suit has black seams on it and I expect it to last awhile. Sturdy enough so far—he wore it to school yesterday, and then to 24-Hour Fitness for his post-school workout. I am going to miss this weird, loopy kid so much when he goes off to college next year!

In other news, it's November 1st and I am doing mini_wrimo this year for the first time in ages. So, gather me my prompts while I may, to keep from running into a dry spell! Yes, even for my minimalist 100-words/day goal.

The other challenge, which I've experienced in just the last 1 1/2 weeks, will be staying awake after 9:30 or 10:00. I'm a night owl by nature, and after summer things just keep humming along until some point in the Fall where I'm suddenly battling this snooze attack every night. I'm remembering now that I always run into this issue for mini_wrimo or any variant thereof, since they are all in November. So... write earlier?

But that involves planning. And free time. :O

"But that involves planning. And free time."

Ha, for you and me both! I used to be the same way, always up until at least 2:00 am or so, but now that my mornings start at 6:00 am every week day, I just can't do it anymore.

My kids used improv skills when creating their last minute costumes as well. I was busy being the wet blanket, "Aren't you too old for tricker treating?" Naturally, deservedly?, I was ignored.

Scrunchie went as a female version of the joker. The child plans! She creates game characters in her intended costume, and takes pictures of herself in said costume when she has all the bits and pieces. Amazing!

Don't you hate being forced to be up early when you're not really a morning person? Ugh.

I cut our kids off from trick-or-treating after the 8th grade, which seemed fair enough. The teen girls that come by are usually in costume and giggly and a lot more polite than the teen boys, who often just act like thugs. Yikes.

I know it's perverse, but I've "almost" started to enjoy early mornings. Almost. :)
