The wheel keeps on spinning...
I thought I was going to post this up last week, but then it was Saturday, then Sunday. Time just flies.

My dad's wake is next Saturday (also the beginning of Spring Break), so I spent the weekend on high-priority chores that I won't be able to do next week. Namely, finishing off the taxes, and putting systemic bug-control/fertilizer on all the rose bushes (4 1/2 hours just for that). My back is killing me!

In previous weekends, I dug up and scanned pictures of my dad to send to my sister—she's assembling the slideshow and doing most of the planning in general. Last week, she discovered that my dad's favorite color was orange. Nobody except my mom knew that! All of these years, he'd been dragging moss-green drapes, bedspread, and sofas from house-to-house, so we assumed that was his favorite color. Nope. Apparently, one of the few things my mother put her foot down on over the years was the concept of decorating a house in orange.

In the past month or so, both kids completed the county competitions for their various fake-law thingies. My son's sophmore team took first place in the county's Moot Court competition, and my daughter's placed second again for Mock Trial (really frustrating, as they lost to this team last year, and should have won both times). We spent a lot of time at the courthouse from mid-February to mid-March. Meanwhile, my office moved to a new building, with all-smaller cubicles. That's been quite an adjustment. I still haven't figured out how to cope with the added distraction of so many more people talking/moving close by.

If you don't watch The Simpsons, you might have missed last week's mid-episode Game of Thrones homage (not a great recording, but I couldn't find a better one. Watch the first 47 seconds of this). I hadn't realized that there was another one for the opening credit sequence about three years ago. Must have been pre-Tivo, when our recording success was less reliable.

And now? Off to bed, already late for the beginning of another work-week. Ullhhhh....

Your mom sure knew the art of compromise!

My Dad tended to behave as if not liking a certain food mostly meant you weren't trying hard enough, but I noticed that I never encountered a brussel sprout in my life until I met my husband's family. ;)
