Several weeks ago, my daughter went to Apple Hill with friends, and brought me back a bag of Gravenstein apples. I stuck my head in there and inhaled—it smelled like my childhood! But that might be it for this year. The neighborhood grocery store is not carrying them, and I may have to phone around this weekend. It was a bad year for apples here, and half of the ones she got were the tiniest of that variety I've ever seen. Woe. Gravensteins are really hard to find in this part of the country. :(
I'm almost finished with the Fargo TV series, but couldn't stay awake last night for the final 7-10 minutes. That's not the part of a show you want to short-change! I got caught up while recovering the fabric on a footstool and small bench (in which 80% of the work is removing the staples from the LAST time around. Sheesh).
My bicycling so far this week is suckage. Yesterday's wind storm forced me to bike in the garage, and today's attempt resulted in a flat tire 7 miles from my office. My pump is missing part of the handle, so that was not awesome. I was able to change the innertube and get enough air in it to return to work without walking in my stupid bike shoes. Tomorrow? Possibly really windy again. Wednesday? Rain. *cries*
Oh, in other news...I've been off sugar since early September, and am hoping to hold out through my birthday (only a week away). I've lost about 8 pounds, and don't feel so noticeably fat. Still about 25 to go toward my ideal weight (haven't seen it since before my second pregnancy). Part of the motivation? (this is not good) I've been having bouts of random sweating, and while it's usually around those times my blood sugar is getting low... I'm also of an age where it could be perimenopause. It's apparently much harder to lose weight once that starts (so, better get it off now), and I'd hoped losing some of the padding might reduce the sweating. Not so far... :(
People are off to Wincon next weekend, and I'll miss going but I know they'll have fun! Say hello to everyone for me. :D
