My hands are healing up, and the bruise on the one palm is almost gone. Tomorrow is a running day, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't have a repeat of last week. Have to get back up on that horse, though, and sooner is probably better.

Today, I biked past a field near my office that sometimes has grazing cattle. Occasionally, it's horses instead. It was just one horse today, all by itself near the road. Either I, or the snowy egret my appearance set off, caused the horse to flee. Run away! Run away! There was another egret in a park area on my return, in a spot that was more "pondlike" today than before the last bout of rain. Weeks ago, I saw a pheasant walking through there. I hear pheasants now and then, and sometimes see the blur of them flying away after their telltale squawk. But I've never seen one out in the open before. As birds go, I guess they're lurkers.

My LJ Idol entry is up (the first week of the last season), and I also talked HalfshellHusband into competing. He's completely new to LJ, so his entry isn't getting quite the attention or votes it should. It's here, if you'd like to take a look. I think it's pretty hilarious. Say hello to rayaso!

Oh—we watched Die Hard 5 ("A Good Day To Die Hard") this weekend. Hrrm. The entire premise required John McClane to be a complete idiot for the first 20 or so minutes of the movie, and then the rest of it was as much the random (and charmless) actor who plays his son as McClane himself. Big extended car chase near the beginning, and lots of explosions, but... eh. I'd rather have had the series end with the 4th movie, if this is where it was going to go. Then I could envision John and Matt heading off into the sunset together. Though I do anyway, I suppose.

Did anyone watch The Blacklist this week, and if so, how much of it did you spend peeking through your fingers? This one was much more brutal than I'd like, and removed a character I'd hope to see more of on the show. As opposed to Grimm, where I'd been hoping an entire subplot would die off in childbirth...

Well, I've been outed. Yes, I am halfshellvenus' husband, the hitherto anonymous rayaso. I thought I could be the ghost in the machine, wandering electronic hallways, "Unwept, unhonor’d, and unsung." (Sir Walter Scott, by way of Groundhog Day http://holyjoe.org/poetry/scott.htm.) Now I am the spouse of the talented halfshellvenus, who I thank for getting me involved in this (I think), and who I also thank for her compliment. Is it cool to thank one's wife in this forum? I don't know, and I don't care! I've never been, and don't want to be, cool. It's the little things in a marriage that get you the bigger things (tonight, I hope -- I'm not really polite, just mercenary) Rebel without a cause. That's me. Especially if you substitute a bicycle (a vintage Trek) for a motorcycle and James Dean for me. As long as I can over-use parenthetical phrases, I'm happy.

And this sense of humor is exactly why more people should know about you! Dark, evil, and funny. :D

Which says nothing about your sweet qualities, which I will keep to myself. ♥

I'm such a fan of parentheses. And being halfshellvenus's husband can only work in your favour :D

I need parentheses. I have a monkey-mind. It is always jumping around. And demanding bananas.
