Jumblemania
Forgot to say this yesterday about the new kitty: we've had her 4 weeks, and we're still in the honeymoon phase of, "Aw. She trusts us enough to sleep right next to us!" But in about six months, that'll become, "How can such a little cat make so much noise? What are you storing in those sinuses anyway, Russia?"

Seriously. That's a lot of snores for an animal that size.

This morning, a phrase from one of my own fics came to mind: "wistful remnants of hair." I decided to reread its source, my J. Alfred Prufrock fanfic poem from last December. I'm still really, really impressed with it (parts are like, Damn, I actually wrote that?) Googling the phrase took me to the AO3 listing of it, where I noticed that nickelmountain read and left kudos on it long before we actually met via Wincon! \o/

(Also, if you happen to be a podficcer, I see that you can link your offerings up on AO3, that's totally a thing. Just saying.)

Dracula: Still watching, despite the historical anachronisms and other issues. HOW do you cast Jonathan Rhys-Meyers in a role that should make use of his inexplicable sexiness, and then ruin his looks with a ridiculous goatee and stamp out his marvelous voice with a bad, ear-grating American accent? Really, the voice might be the dealbreaker before any of the other ridiculous stuff. Though last week's episode had a little slashy secondary-character moment that made my heart zing, because I'm just that pervy.

Interesting New York Review Of Books Essay on Women and The Game Of Thrones that makes me think I should maybe give the TV series another try, in spite of the offensive T&A female exploitation. *tries to motivate self*

Finally: how sad is it that my first reaction to this Blue Pueblo Tumblr photo is to feel threatened and slightly sick? Damn my acrophobia!

The variety of snores from the various cats is also interesting. Tigger didn't snore until she was very old, and she was never very loud. The Whale varies between histrionic ("HRRRRRERRRrrr") and muttering noises, like "Fneh-fneh-feh." He can encroach on the TV volume at times.

Jinx... Lots of weird little hums, kind of like the sounds my SUV makes for awhile after you turn the engine off (when I first got it, I thought it had a serious problem). Also some, "Haaaah... haaaah... haaah..." I have the feeling that's going to get a lot louder over time. ;)
