The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphors

Okay, now that it really IS Thursday (I was a little befuddled yesterday), the LJ Idol poll closes today. I could really use the votes, if you're of a mind to help. Poll is here. None of my peeps are pimping for me, so I'm at a disadvantage! *bites nails*

Yesterday's bike ride... was a struggle from about 4 miles onward, which is rare. The local weather stations said winds were 0-2mph, but those were lies—LIES! They were actually more like 8mph winds, which normally isn't a big deal, but somehow the expectations vs. reality seem to affect how I feel. Also, I saw a cow ambling along a ridge with her little calf trotting alongside her. I think I get surprised by this every spring, because calving season seems to come earlier in Sacramento than in most places. As in, possibly March. :O

From Blue Pueblo Tmblr, a picture of Bran Castle in Transylvania that sends entirely the wrong message. I've seen some great ones (at dusk, with birds or bats or something swarming around), but this one, well... the unfortunate door kind of ruins the effect. Surprised castle is surprised!

And randomly, here's a surprisingly eloquent and thoughtful essay on the passing of Margaret Thatcher by Russell Brand. Truly.

ETA: My back drove me to take Advil around 11am today. Ever find yourself thinking about something like this as "hitting the sauce kind of early"? :O
