Seeking Inspiration...
My LJ Idol topic for this week is "Bewitched & Bewildred." If you have any ideas for that, please chime in!

After last week's Grimm was over, I found myself wanting Nick/Reynard slash (my husband actually randomly brought that up, and it stuck). This week? The show has triggered phobias I didn't even know I had. Gah! Lots of unwatchable moments, in and around several great Portland houses. I miss my home state. :(

Hmm...maybe something about an alien visiting Earth and being both bewitched and bewildered by human culture? The prompt seems to lean towards love trouble, so it might be cool to see something that doesn't have anything to do with romantic love.

had that same thought about implied love. Perhaps partly because of the song.

I try to avoid that territory if possible, because it's not the kind of fiction I usually like to write. Plus, lilycobalt's story last week was really good. This is the thing I hate about the "recycled prompts" situation-- sometimes it's hard to imagine anything other than the first story that got written!

The typo/misspelling in "Bewildred" makes me think of Mildred, and which makes me think Bewildred could be someone's name, which makes me want the story to be about two old women, maybe sisters or partners, who have adventures.

That's not a bad idea, actually! Two older women who perhaps have some kind of supernatural power, maybe?

Oops, that's MY typo. Heh.

If all three of the usual words were there, I'd be thinking of the three little hobot bats from Pogo, "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bemildred." I'm pretty sure that was the last one's name. :D

the segue from "bewitched & bewildered" to grimm made me think of poor juliette (whose name i keep spelling wrong >.< ) and the spell and how confused she is. can you write fanfic for lj idol? altho more importantly, would you want to....

there were definitely some OH MY GOD NO close-your-eyes bits in last night's episode. eeew. and i love that the idea for nick/renard came from hsh. hee.

Apparently I misspell her name too! It's funny how she suddenly has a personality in these last few episodes. I like her much better, inflato-lips aside.

And no, I've avoided fanfic for Idol and plan to keep on that path!

There were so many dreadful moments in last night's ep. The hospital-- ack! So disgusting!

But I was pleased to see Demon Nina show up (she'll always be Demon Nina to me), and prove herself awesome at the end. \o/

I hear "bewitched and bewildered" and think of Midsummer Night's dream - not specifically the crossed lovers part, but the spells that confuse, make people shift form, things like that. Mischievous magic tricks played on the unsuspecting. I also like alien_writings idea of an alien traveling and suffering from culture shock - any kind of culture shock would do. Ooooo! Time travel! Both bewitched and bewildered could apply to someone from the past brought forward or swapped with a contemporary.

I felt as if I'd written the "alien visitor" thing last week, because the 'normal world' was so completely foreign to the narrator. And vice versa. :O

I did find an idea, so let's hope it's good enough!

Thanks for reminding me there was a new Grimm! I just watched, and wow, disgusting. *lol* But I thought it was really well written too, especially managing all the character arcs. Did you notice the Bechdel test win? And yes, it continues to be steeped in the PDX setting. I'm really enjoying that.

There was a lot of really squicky detail in this last episode. Wow. Even the 'cure' was completely disgusting!

I didn't think about the Bechdel test (it's not very ingrained in me), but that was a really good scene. I wish they'd developed Juliette's character more before this season, because the change from "meh" to "spunky" is kind of a surprise. But I much prefer this version. :)
