Robots and other news

LJ Idol voting closes today, after which we'll lose another large chunk of people (it's always large chunks, this round!) My story is here, virtually guaranteed to amuse. ;)

So, I finally planted my cherry tomatoes yesterday. Took a full hour to remove the dirt from the 3 holes and de-gravel it. Actual planting was maybe 3 minutes. I did a bunch of other cleanup in that area both Saturday and Sunday, and my back hurts. I think it kept me awake much of last night. Bounced out of bed when the alarm went off, but the Daylight Savings Time rebound kicked in within half an hour. Need caffeine. :(

We're almost all the way through Robot & Frank, and I can say that it's everything I'd hoped it would be. Alan Arkin might have done the "Frank" role (he's great with dry/absurd humor), but Frank Langella is even better. He not only does dry humor, he is excellent at disdain. He plays an aging cat-burglar with some dementia issues, and his beleagured son says, "I've brought you something" and opens the trunk to reveal a robot stuffed in there (wrong all by itself!). The expression on Frank's face is not, "What's that?" but instead, "Oh, HELL no!!!" He is not especially kind to the robot at the beginning. And it spoils nothing if I tell you that over time, he corrupts it into helping him steal. Oh, Frank. I fangirl you!

Now I want a movie that stars both Frank Langella AND Alan Arkin at the same time! \o/

In other news... I still hate the new LJ update page (and the jumpy mouse/incomplete "copy" issues) like burning...
