My 2012 Holiday Wish List
What with running late and having too many wishes be journal-specific or non-fandom, I didn't wind up doing the original (anonymous) wishlist I'd first intended.

Please, look around some of the open wishlist communities and see if you can offer someone a little happiness! I know of insmallpackages, wishlist, and holiday_wishes, and I'm sure there are others. There's a huge variety in requests, and I'm sure you'll find something that speaks to you!

My 2012 Wish List

1. A new fic banner for my Other Fanfiction page, with Die Hard 4, Iron Man, White Collar, Burn Notice, and possibly Chuck.

2. A story banner for any of my fics that you like (my LJ homepage links to all stories).

3. Readers for my unloved Justified zombie story!

4. A Tony/Rhodey story from the first Iron Man movie.

5. A slashy Holmes/Watson story from the Guy Ritchie movieverse.

6. A donation to the Red Cross, for the Hurricane Sandy victims who have no home to return to.

7. A toy for your local children's Christmas program (Toys for Tots, Salvation Army, etc.)

8. Good thoughts and encouragement for the many people who need jobs and/or better health right now.

9. A random act of kindness this month for someone who is harried or tired or overwhelmed.

10. A little forgiveness for yourself for not being absolutely perfect in all possible ways, because none of us is, and we are usually better people than we give ourselves credit for.

If you've posted your wish list somewhere, please link me to it!

I like your list :) Working on number 10.

:) I felt the prick of tears just reading your comment.

10 is one of the hardest. Most of us are good people, and we have SO much better perspective on others-- we usually see their strengths and not their faults, especially the fleeting shortcomings.

But when it comes to ourselves, we so often punish ourselves over the few things we've missed doing or did poorly and so rarely acknowledge and love ourselves for what we've done well.

I know I struggle with this, and I still find it hard to take that external dollop of "sense" and apply it to myself!

Hi there,

Have already done number 7 this year. Will also give you number 3. I read your story and absolutely loved it. I always enjoy a good zombie fic and I love Justified so win-win situation!

Hugs, Joyce

Oh, thank you so much!

The Justified story was a leap of effort (the length alone!) and genre for me, and I enjoyed writing it and worked very hard on it... but it just languishes, ignored. Which stings a little.

#7 is one I used to be right on top of when my kids were younger (I'd buy an extra toy when I shopped for them, usually something I knew would be good because my own kids wanted it). But I'm not in the loop as much lately, so I'm always doing this mid-December now and not Thanksgiving weekend.

One of the best reminders used to be Amazon.com's toy sale just before Thanksgiving. You'd get free shipping on larger orders, so it was really easy to throw a few extra toys into the order for donating.

Thank you so much, and please enjoy your holidays, Joyce!

Please! For the love of all that is undead and unholy, read it!

Though I can understand how little things like, oh, Nano might have distracted you a little.

boyd looking like a tent preacher!
This already sounds awesome! That's really his strong suit, and the more of that the better, I say. :D

Number 10 is one of the hardest, and with all you've been through this year, I know you need it!

So keep working toward it, and I hope the rest of us working on #6 somehow finds its way to you. :)

And I'm always up for #9. I'll try to be on the lookout for something I can do.

I saw that you did something with this just the other day, passing along your lucky dollars to a homeless woman. Let's hope they bring her more luck than you, but I also know that parting with them had emotional aspects too, and that those dollars SHOULD be helping someone. Maybe they'll find their magic for someone else. Hope so!

Always give to Toys 4 Tots every year. Love buying kids' toys especially now that my nephew is nearly a teen and outgrowing toys.

I so miss when my own kids were little and wanted actual toys.

I've now done this item on my own list, with something for two kids. Thanks for helping out!
