Original Fic Drabble: "Bedtime Stories" (G)
Bedtime Stories
Original Fiction Drabble
Rating: G
Summary: There once was a wolf…
Author's Note: For jeza_jezaro, who requested Bedtime Stories and original fiction.

There once was a wolf, or a woodsman (or both), in a deep, dark forest where anything might happen…

But those are daytime stories, those witches and lost little girls, better suited to waking hours than the impressionable edge of sleep.

Instead, come close and we'll explore tales of adventurous mice, of frogs with motorcars—or modern stories with dancing alligators or neighborly robot families.

It isn't that there are no wolves (animal or otherwise), or misfortunes vast enough to seem a curse. It is that you are still so beautifully innocent.

For now, the wonder of imagination is enough.

So many of those fairytales (at least, our traditional ones) are dark and disturbing. Can you imagine unleashing Hansel and Gretel on a small child just before bedtime? :0

The stories I read my kids were then were fun or quirky or adventurous, but not dangerous! Though I was careful not to read anything hysterically funny, or it would wind them up-- almost as bad as scaring them!
