Original Fic Drabble: "Bedtime Stories" (G)
Bedtime Stories
Original Fiction Drabble
Rating: G
Summary: There once was a wolf…
Author's Note: For jeza_jezaro, who requested Bedtime Stories and original fiction.

There once was a wolf, or a woodsman (or both), in a deep, dark forest where anything might happen…

But those are daytime stories, those witches and lost little girls, better suited to waking hours than the impressionable edge of sleep.

Instead, come close and we'll explore tales of adventurous mice, of frogs with motorcars—or modern stories with dancing alligators or neighborly robot families.

It isn't that there are no wolves (animal or otherwise), or misfortunes vast enough to seem a curse. It is that you are still so beautifully innocent.

For now, the wonder of imagination is enough.

Thank you so much!

When I got to thinking about traditional fairytales (what we think of as bedtime stories), it occurred to me that they're horribly ill-suited to that when children are very young.

But adventures? Wild imaginings and wonderful new places? Those are perfect. :)

Completely agree with you there. To be fair, I appreciate fairytales much more now that I'm an adult than I ever did as a kid 'cause I can understand all the different levels/interpretations/hidden meanings of the stories. I kind of love them actually but, yeah, most are definitely not suitable for children!

Thanks so much for sharing that!
