Burn Notice Gen Drabble: "The Con Man's Cocktail" (PG)
Title: The Con Man's Cocktail
Fandom: Burn Notice
Author: HalfshellVenus
Character: Michael (Gen, Drabble)
Rating: PG
Summary: Conning criminals never gets old…
Author's note: For tsuki_no_bara, who requested Burn Notice and little paper umbrellas.

x-x-x-x-x

Michael's not really an umbrella-drink kind of guy, but Stephane loves them, along with big gestures and big plans (and he sure hopes the sleazy import-export/smuggling king next to him is buying all this, because there really isn't a Plan B).

"You're based where?" the guy asks.

"Bordeaux, via Martinique." Michael smiles with too many teeth.

"I don't do a lot of business in religious keepsakes or figurines."

"They are quite valuable," Michael states. "Hollow and easily sealed."

"Hmmm…" The man reconsiders, while Michael finishes his drink. "Another?"

Ah—they're getting somewhere. Michael smiles and signals for the waitress. "Merci."

Very fun! I've just recently gotten into watching Burn Notice. Great show!

Glad you liked it!

Netflix somehow directed us to Burn Notice as a "show we might like," and they were right. We've seen all the episodes, and still love it. Sam is actually my favorite, especially Sam as Chuck Findlay. :D

heee! i admit i always think of sam with the paper umbrellas, so i really love that you wrote about michael using them as part of his conman cover instead. (and no, he really isn't an umbrella drink guy. but his cover identity can be. :D ) and of course there isn't a plan b, but that's the fun part.

Sam was my first thought too, but he'd probably buy the drinks for the ladies (no umbrellas in beer or mojitos). Fiona doesn't seem to drink a lot of those either, and I know Michael doesn't. But as a con? OH, yes.

I love the cheesy grin Michael sports during some of his cons. ;)

The stories these guys come up with when they're working someone just kill me. And it so rarely works out the first time through. :)

Or at all, depending on the storyline. But for an actor, it has to be the best role - you get to play someone else every episode. How can your performance get static or boring when your character has to put on so many different personas?

I still love your Michael voice!

Thank you! I so enjoy him when he's wheeling and dealing these cons, and that cheesy smile he gets when he's lying through his teeth. I'm surprised none of his 'marks' have ever been alarmed by it!

Wheeling and dealing Mikey is often the best Mikey, especially when he's crocodile-grinning.

Glad you liked it! Oh, I hate the hiatus periods, but I can't complain too much since they're so much shorter than network TV. :)

Thank you! I get such a kick out of his various 'personas'-- his aggressively clueless 'hick' was one of my favorites. :D
