How is it already Wednesday?
I watched the House, M.D. finale on Monday, and hit the "I reject this canon! Reject it!" point and then arrived at "Fine. I can live with that..." by the very end of the episode. I really don't like what they've done to Wilson—it feels unfair and it frustrates me—and I'm sorry Foreman got stuck being an administrator (I liked him and his interaction with the team/life better as a doctor). Taub was one of the more interesting characters for me at the end. His romantic life is just awful, but he has real clarity on other relationships, and can be an amazing friend. Who knew?

Over the weekend, I worked on my Idol entry (what else is new?) and Christopher's costume. His toga wound up being the entire bedsheet, because a single layer wasn't thick enough. I sewed up loose pieces and tacked it here and there, mainly so it would not fall apart onstage and also so he could find his way in and out of it on his own. :0

I also did the wings for his head and feet (he's Hermes), and then redid them Monday night after the paint came off the gallon milk-jug panels I'd used. Guess those are better for reinforcing under fabric, etc. (they're rigid, lightweight, and slightly flexible) rather than being actually visible. The play is tonight, so I'll try to post pictures of the costume result this week.

My husband and I had our 23rd anniversary on Sunday, which we'll celebrate this weekend when it's not Pancake Breakfasts and other wall-to-wall chores. Wish we could get out of town, but there's no one to look after both kids. Someday! Meanwhile, I guess a nice restaurant will have to do.

I read The Song of Achilles this weekend, mainly to preview for whether there'd be too much sex for it to be appropriate for Christopher. It was good, really captivating and readable, though the author took certain liberties with Patroclus' age, his early background, and attitude toward being a warrior. Achilles' mother? Scary. Really scary. As were most of the Greek gods, really... Now I've started an Agatha Raisin mystery, and Zombies vs. Unicorns< both just for fun. :D

Thank you! Right now, Lauren's 14 and Christopher's 12, so it'll be awhile yet. Especially because the younger one lacks in the maturity department. :0

I've only watched about three House episodes this season. Real life got in the way of my TV habit. But, I've heard things and I'm not sure I'm going to like it when I finally do watch.

I enjoyed it up to about mid-season, and then a bunch of story arcs started that I was less than fond of. :(

Happy Anniversary!

I wish you even more happy years together :)

The costume sounds like a lot of work and I`d be curious to see it done.

I was planning on watching the end of House M.D. but in the end decided that it`s probably not going to be pretty and I don`t want to spoil my good memories.

Zombies vs. Unicorns? O.o What?!

Thank you for the good wishes!

I think you could watch House through about mid Season 8 very happily. If you've seen everything BUT the S8 finale, you might as well watch it. Just hang on until the end. :0

I picked up 'Zombies vs. Unicorns' based on the title (because "What?!?" was my first response, too). The book is a collection of stories from Team Unicorn (fans of unicorns) and Team Zombie. The intro was hilarious, as are the blurbs at the beginning of each story. I was hoping for more stories of unicorns battling zombies, but for the most part, they're separate. Bummer. But lots of good authors in the mix!

:)

I think that`s how much I`ve watched - till episode 8 or 9. For the first time in my life I found that I can`t stand a character, and then I heard that it`s last season, so I dropped it. I`ll see how I feel about it in a few days :)

I would have hoped for them to be battling each other - now that would have been a sight to see :D

May I ask what happened to House and Wilson? I stopped watching around mid season.5 of House MD.

Song of Achilles is on my to-buy list. Did you like it?

They've had falling-outs from time-to-time, including one where Wilson rejected House's attempts to quickly apologize for massive B.S. (which I was glad to see-- House has had that coming for YEARS). But in the end, it's more the unkindness of what they did with Wilson's story, on its own. So unfair. :(

I liked "The Song of Achilles" quite a bit, though it's not in quite in the league of Mary Renault's work. Still, it really pulls you along, and the language is fluid and very readable. It's Achilles' story, as told entirely from Patroclus' POV, so you get a more intimate view of who Achilles might have been (not mere legends of him) but one that isn't fed through Achilles' personal filter. That alone makes the approach interesting!

Why? What happened to Wilson?

That sounds good. I think I will pick up the novel after all. Thanks!
