Some Of The Things...
First, let me point you to a fic! I bid on thegeminisage at an auction, and she wrote me a Sam/Dean story that has all of the things I miss about those early seasons of SPN: Stop Me (NC-17). Check it out!

Second, (*Baaaaah!*) I did the Tarot Card meme, and got this result:

You are The Empress

Beauty, happiness, pleasure, success, luxury, dissipation.
The Empress is associated with Venus, the feminine planet, so it represents, beauty, charm, pleasure, luxury, and delight. You may be good at home decorating, art or anything to do with making things beautiful.
The Empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance, of art or business. While the Magician is the primal spark, the idea made real, and the High Priestess is the one who gives the idea a form, the Empress is the womb where it gestates and grows till it is ready to be born. This is why her symbol is Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. Even so, the Empress is more Demeter, goddess of abundance, then sensual Venus. She is the giver of Earthly gifts, yet at the same time, she can, in anger withhold, as Demeter did when her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped. In fury and grief, she kept the Earth barren till her child was returned to her.
What Tarot Card are You?
Take the Test to Find Out.

I have no idea how accurate this is, except... Venus! Hah! I always wish these surveys had better choices, though. I mean, I am both serious and mature, but I also have a huge silly streak. Where's the choice for that?

We're going camping this weekend, despite the kids' sudden lack of interest in it. That sweep through Lassen at the end of our vacation apparently made them feel like they've already BTDT, though Lauren also has some additional teenager thing going on where she doesn't want to be away from her electronic devices for that long. She's loved camping up until now, so this is news to me. And HSH likes the outdoors, but not the whole tent/sleeping bag thing. *sigh* Well, it's only once a year. I already feel bad that this is what my kids are getting—car-camping once a year—instead of actual backpacking, which my family did. We're definitely striving for the lowest common denominator. :(

I had a 2-hour-long meeting with the ASIC team at work yesterday, which fortunately was a technical info-session rather than an extended version of the email/hallway conversations we've been having for months:
(paraphrasing)
ASIC team: "Can we crapify this feature we've been shipping for 10 years?"
Me: "No, that would make our products uncompetitive. And customers expect more from your fancy new ASICs than from your moldy old ASICs, not less!"

The grownups watched Inception over the weekend, which required a lot of concentraction. o_O Ellen Page seems out of place in that movie, and I'm surprised at the amount of someone/Eames slash that resulted from it. Eames... doesn't look like much to me (sorry). Arthur is sporting an unflattering haircut, but Cobb/Arthur still seems the more obvious slashing choice, if any. IDK—the movie doesn't inspire slashy feelings for me, but maybe people see the premise as a great opportunity for such. That kind of makes sense.

We all finished S1 of Community (god, the paintball episode! And the one with the obnoxious high-school kids made me laugh until I cried). I'm glad the Greendale Human Being mascot wasn't around much in late S1—it reminds me of an albino sleestak. Creepy.

HSH and I randomly watched the S2 Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas episode on Hulu. I clicked on it because it seemed to be claymation (and was!!!), and it was pure, whacked-out genius all the way through. Evil snowman Chang—hah!

I'm weeks behind on White Collar, since I'm watching it via Hulu too, but I'll give a shout-out to the Mozzie-centric Dentist of Detroit episode. *happy sigh* I'm not grooving on the Neal/Sara thing at all, though. She's pretty, and snappy, but the character is SO underwritten (Hi, Jones! Hi, S1 not-Diana!). Hrm. She's too emotionally detached for me to appreciate her with Neal. Or something.

The stars have spoken, Venus it is ;)
I get the irony: I did that meme a few of times, and I always got the moon - knowing that clair de lune = moonlight.

I can't get on board with Neal/Sara either. I don't know why, but I don't especially enjoy her character, and the relationship seemed rushed or maybe forced to me. It's odd because, usually, I ship the couple I'm supposed to ship. In this case, I remember I made a short post at the end of the second season asking if we were supposed to ship them because I couldn't "feel" it.

What's funny is that, when the "Favorite planet" choice came up, I glanced at "Venus" but I picked my true favorite: Neptune. Solely based on its beautiful, blue serenity...

but I don't especially enjoy her character, and the relationship seemed rushed or maybe forced to me.
It does to me too. As if there's too much analysis behind it rather than motivation, such as "Well, Neal's hot. He should have a girlfriend," or "People keep talking about the actor being gay, so we need to keep Neal focused on a woman so people won't think Neal's gay."

IDK. Alexandra had more "oomph" with Neal, not that I shipped that either. Really, other than my occasional slash ships, I'm not much of a shipper. I'll watch where the show goes, and sometimes I'll reject the show's ship (House/Cuddy, after all he's done to her?). But that's about it.

Well, I'm glad I'm not alone on the Neal/Sara thing. I started to see fanfic for it near the end of S2, and thought, "Why the hell?" :0

I watched ep. 3x05 of White Collar last night, and I think part of the problem is that Sara and Neal are 'pals' who sleep together. At best, they're fuck-buddies, but there is no deep passion coming from either side.

And that kind of seems like a waste, to me, especially after the lengths Neal went to for Kate.

They obviously "made" her for him - pretty, sassy, smart, appreciating art, hunter/hunted dynamics... - and yet, they failed to make it work, at least for me. Maybe because it shows that they're trying hard.

I guess the Kate situation is another reason why I can't get on board: it went to fast from Neal obsessing over her and mourning to showing interest in Sara. That said, I tend to stock and watch episodes in a lump, so it may have given me a wrong impression ^__^

I just took the tarot thingy - The High Priestess, which sounds really lofty, but the description isn't too far off. Holder of arcane knowledge - I'm the one who comes up with the off-the-wall answers at work all. the. time :)

I didn't get anything slashy from Inception, either. I just watched it on my vacay in Florida last month. It was good, but that's about it.

I like it! Sounds also like someone with either mad nerd skillz, or the ability to kick ass at Trivial Pursuit. :D

We had to restart "Inception" after it became clear that we were not ready (the first time) for that level of concentration.

I got no slashy vibes from the movie at all, but the idea of meeting up in dreams and trying to invade/influence other people's dreams... I can see that going to a slashy place in a lot of ways. But less so if both of the participants have the skill. \o?

I wish I'd paid more attention to the kid's outfits at the beginning, but alas, I didn't. It was like watching Existence - a complete mind-trip because you can't tell when you're in the dream/game and when you're in RL. I did like it, but the slash vibe was nil for me. The idea of invading dreams and planting a subconscious notion would be an incredible violation, so I couldn't see anything hot or sexy about it.

and I'm awesome at Trivial Pursuit!
