Second, (*Baaaaah!*) I did the Tarot Card meme, and got this result:
You are The Empress
Beauty, happiness, pleasure, success, luxury, dissipation.
The Empress is associated with Venus, the feminine planet, so it represents, beauty, charm, pleasure, luxury, and delight. You may be good at home decorating, art or anything to do with making things beautiful.
The Empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance, of art or business. While the Magician is the primal spark, the idea made real, and the High Priestess is the one who gives the idea a form, the Empress is the womb where it gestates and grows till it is ready to be born. This is why her symbol is Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. Even so, the Empress is more Demeter, goddess of abundance, then sensual Venus. She is the giver of Earthly gifts, yet at the same time, she can, in anger withhold, as Demeter did when her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped. In fury and grief, she kept the Earth barren till her child was returned to her.
Take the Test to Find Out.
I have no idea how accurate this is, except... Venus! Hah! I always wish these surveys had better choices, though. I mean, I am both serious and mature, but I also have a huge silly streak. Where's the choice for that?
We're going camping this weekend, despite the kids' sudden lack of interest in it. That sweep through Lassen at the end of our vacation apparently made them feel like they've already BTDT, though Lauren also has some additional teenager thing going on where she doesn't want to be away from her electronic devices for that long. She's loved camping up until now, so this is news to me. And HSH likes the outdoors, but not the whole tent/sleeping bag thing. *sigh* Well, it's only once a year. I already feel bad that this is what my kids are getting—car-camping once a year—instead of actual backpacking, which my family did. We're definitely striving for the lowest common denominator. :(
I had a 2-hour-long meeting with the ASIC team at work yesterday, which fortunately was a technical info-session rather than an extended version of the email/hallway conversations we've been having for months:
ASIC team: "Can we crapify this feature we've been shipping for 10 years?"
Me: "No, that would make our products uncompetitive. And customers expect more from your fancy new ASICs than from your moldy old ASICs, not less!"
The grownups watched Inception over the weekend, which required a lot of concentraction. o_O Ellen Page seems out of place in that movie, and I'm surprised at the amount of someone/Eames slash that resulted from it. Eames... doesn't look like much to me (sorry). Arthur is sporting an unflattering haircut, but Cobb/Arthur still seems the more obvious slashing choice, if any. IDK—the movie doesn't inspire slashy feelings for me, but maybe people see the premise as a great opportunity for such. That kind of makes sense.
We all finished S1 of Community (god, the paintball episode! And the one with the obnoxious high-school kids made me laugh until I cried). I'm glad the Greendale Human Being mascot wasn't around much in late S1—it reminds me of an albino sleestak. Creepy.
HSH and I randomly watched the S2 Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas episode on Hulu. I clicked on it because it seemed to be claymation (and was!!!), and it was pure, whacked-out genius all the way through. Evil snowman Chang—hah!
I'm weeks behind on White Collar, since I'm watching it via Hulu too, but I'll give a shout-out to the Mozzie-centric Dentist of Detroit episode. *happy sigh* I'm not grooving on the Neal/Sara thing at all, though. She's pretty, and snappy, but the character is SO underwritten (Hi, Jones! Hi, S1 not-Diana!). Hrm. She's too emotionally detached for me to appreciate her with Neal. Or something.
