The votes are in...
I won first place in the NBC Last Author Standing, and came in second for USA Network Last Author Standing. Thanks to those of you who helped with voting along the way!

needtakehave made the two lovely banners under the cut:

I tallied up the stories I wrote for the 3 LAS Comms: 5 White Collar, 3 Burn Notice, 3 Prison Break, 2 Fringe, and 6 Chuck fics. Two of those weren't actually entered for the competitions, but they were written for them. Nineteen stories in all-- not bad!

The kids' teams both won their basketball games yesterday, both with close finishes and a lot of roughness at the end. At Lauren's game, one of our girls was driving toward the basket and her opponent was leaning hard and trying to force her out. The referee blew his whistle and groaned out, "Foullll..." in a way that cracked me up. Lauren didn't see why that was funny, but it was if there was an entire subtext behind that word: "I can't believe you're doing that right in front of me. Do you seriously think I don't see that? Or that I'm not going to call it? _Damn_."

In other random news, HalfshellHusband suggested putting the top of the Webster (the cobweb-cleaner) in the dishwasher today. o_O

*cannot uncootie what has been cootied*

Wow, 19 fics! I wish I had your self-discipline. Congrats on winning!

Thank you!

It's been over some time-- I think the first story was at the beginning of October. It was when all 3 comms were going at once that things got really insane. :0

Funny, I'd only written one White Collar fic before the USA Network challenge started. It sure forced me to write more!

Hee! Thank you for the good wishes!

I'm glad you liked the blurb on the referee-- the tone of his voice just killed me, with its, "You girls are making me tired" inflection. :D

Congratulations, sweetheart! Somehow I missed most of what went on but I am still completely thrilled for you because your wonderful writing deserves recognition. :)

It's good to clean the head of the cobweb cleaner. Not such a bright idea to put it into the dishwasher! Was Halfshellhusband having a blond moment?!! ;)

Thank you! This was all background stuff for three Last Author Standing competitions, all of them in my "random-fandoms" (except for the fox_las, which included Prison Break).

I suggested to HSH that he could clean the head in the laundry room sink, with soap (or paper towels, which is what I do). But putting it in the dishwasher? I swear, men think that thing is magic.

But where are all those sticky cobwebs (and dead bugs) going to go in the cleaning process? How are you then going to clean the dishwasher? Yuck!

I'm not sure men are genetically capable of thinking that far ahead. At least when it comes to all things house-cleaning-related! ;)

congrats on the las! (which looks to me like the plural of la - if you have more than one los angeles, you have las.) \o/

"webster" just made me think "webster grill" and i didn't think the covers would even fit in the dishwasher.... but if there's cobwebs, i'm squicked and no, you don't put that in the dishwasher, EW.
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphors: heh-hehhalfshellvenus on February 1st, 2011 06:22 pm (UTC)
I know-- it looks like LAs to me too. ;)

Websters are a fuzzy-rubbery-fringy-head-on-a-stick device for cleaning cobwebs. So over time, they can build up cobwebs (and all the yucky things in cobwebs). There is nothing wrong with using paper towels to get that stuff off! But god, the dishwasher? Try that, and you've contaminated the dishwasher! Yuck. :0

i use a broom to get rid of cobwebs. er. when i bother to sweep the ceiling, anyway....

and i realized they're WEBER grills, not webster. >.< but still, you don't put anything with cobwebs in it into the dishwasher! that is DISGUSTING, hsh!

I KNOW. It makes me wonder, "God, what else has he put in there over the years?" :0

I mean, I don't even want to put the cats' water dish in there! Just in case germs survive, and transfer to the people-dishes!
