I'm late on my birthday wishes to roguebitch and strifechaos, but on time for miss_begonia. I hope the celebrations were mighty and that the coming year is good to all of you! \o/

Second, some important news: the Queensland Flood Relief Auction is to raise money for flood victims in Australia. You may offer services or bid on what's there! My offer is here (it's wordy, but thorough). ;)

It's also signup time for the 2011 SPN/J2 Big Bang. I know some of you will be readying your computers for this one!

On the personal front, my three Last Author Standing comms are all in the voting stages: usanetwork_las, nbc_las, and fox_las. We're down to the last three authors in two of them (*bites nails*), and I'll admit, I never thought I'd be writing 3 fic challenges at a time for this long. I've really enjoyed it, though. I've signed up for a new LAS challenge comm, drabble_las:

Do You Like To Write?

Like to write? Love writing 100 word drabbles? Great! There is a new challenge, called drabble_las, where you write a fanfic of EXACTLY 100 words every week based on a different prompt and where all pairings, including slash, is allowed! Then they get voted on and the person with the least votes is out that week and the person with the most is safe the next week till you have one author standing who wins! What do you win? A snazzy graphic and a $10 GC to Amazon or Barnes & Noble. You don't even need to be a GREAT writer!

..who will come out on top?

because that one seems right up my alley. I'm also going to give fox_las another run when the signups open (sadly, not yet!).

There are some new LAS comms open for signups, and others you'll want to know about when they're ready too: jossverse_las, bbc_las and syfy_las are open now, and new comms including a Glee LAS and a Lost LAS are awaiting a show of interest here.

And since I'm in a mini-hiatus, let's see if I can get some of my overdue birthday ficlets written, answer Yuletide comments at AO3, and... *koff*... clean up after Xmas at home this weekend. ;)

Yay! Offering, or bidding? :D

LOL, both :)

You know, someone needs to do something like that for the animal rescue foundations. I know, it's not as urgent as Floods, etc but still... I have 5 dogs 3 of which were rescued :(

I didn't put myself up for auction because I still owe a Sweet Charity story (*cries*) in addition to having the LAS stuff going.

But now I'm wondering if I might offer some drabbles. Probably not a ton of takers, but it would still help.

Animal rescue is sure tough-- some of them can't swim, some panic and get separated from their owners. The aftermath of the New Orleans flooding showed just how bad things can get there. :(

you should totally offer some drabbles! maybe just a couple to keep the pressure off yourself. i still owe someone a podfic for help_pakistan or i'd have offered something too.

and note my surprise that you signed up for a drabble challenge.... heh.

Hee! Thanks for the encouragement. I'll put up my offer, and then update this post.

The fact that the Sweet Charity story isn't finished is kind of killing me, but it's SPN and Wincest and the show has stalled me out totally there for anything OTHER than drabbles.

and note my surprise that you signed up for a drabble challenge.... heh.
Shocking, isn't it! I'm probably fooling myself into thinking that would require less work, because the presentation has to be tight and the woodshedding down to 100-words can take a looong time.

I'm still amused that one of the "worst fic" votes I got on the White Collar/Burn Notice Xover fic was "there's a lot of dialogue." Hey, YOU try telling The Christmas Carol (the opening, the denouement, the ending, and appearances by 4 ghosts) in 1000 words and still having it make sense and be in character and be good. Dialogue is actually one of the best ways to bring that off when you're trying to keep the word-count low. :0
