Birthday explosion!
Darn it, I disappeared off the net after Thursday again, and I missed jellicle's and witchofthedogs' birthdays. I hope both of you ladies have a wonderful year ahead!

I'm teetering on the edge for dea_liberty and tsuki_no_bara, but it's still the 22nd in my time zone. Happy Birthday to you both, and many happy returns!

If any of you would like a birthday ficlet, please just let me know. I'll get to them, I promise!

The weekend seems like a ball of vagueness right now. The kids had their final soccer games on Saturday, in miserable weather. Temps around 50-degrees, rain (eventually pouring) for Christopher's game. Lauren's game was right afterward, and the rain had stopped but by then the cold and wind had gotten to me. HSH and I traded off-- he had to go back to the car midway through Christopher's game, and he defrosted at home for a little bit before coming to Lauren's game, which was about when I'd had it. :0

We watched Junior as the family movie on Saturday (replete with intermittent squawking from Lauren). That was a followup to last week's choice of Dave, which also features Frank Langella in a villainous roll. After the kids went to bed, HSH and I watched Strangers With Candy, which was fairly terrible. I picked it for Stephen Colbert, but it let me down. Ook.

Other stuff happened (online Mahjong! Too much of it!), but for the most part I focused on catching up on the sleep I'd missed thanks to that cold last week. Still tired. :(

It takes ages to catch up on sleep when you've got over the cold. *punches the cold*

I was surprised at how tired this one made me-- I don't usually feel that way unless I've got bronchitis going.

But mainly, I was awake most of the night every night from Sunday through Friday. Gah.

I hope it's gone. And that the new stuffiness is not another cold trying to creep in! :0

thank you for the birthday wishes! and since you offered, i'd love a white collar ficlet. :D maybe something with a hat. or dinosaurs. :D

ooh, online mah jonng. so addictive and... addictive!

White Collar! I'll add it to my list. :D

I remember the days when Mah Jong came free with Windows (I remember them all too well-- LOTS of playing time down the drain). I especially liked that you could pick different formations-- that's harder to find online. Though I did find a site wih an interesting 3D Mah Jong, but you can only play it for two minutes before your TIME is UP. :(

How was the birthday? Was red velvet cake involved?

oh man, timed mah jongg would make me nuts.

there was no cake! but i did have sushi and ice cream, so it worked out. i think i get cake at thanksgiving, tho. (apparently my mom is baffled that i want carrot cake instead of chocolate cake. i can always find chocolate cake, mom.)

I lurve chocolate cake, but it's true-- finding a good carrot cake is rare and I'm picky:

1) No pineapple! Seriously!
2) Moist (yes, some people can screw that up)
3) Raisins are great
4) Not too many nuts
5) Preferrably not too "tall," or there isn't enough frosting (but I am a frosting fiend).

Years ago, one of the secretaries at the office who was in charge of cakes (back when we still had them!) would routinely order either an evil "fruit-basket cake" with (it included white cake, cooked pineapple, and some kind of gummy flavorless frosting) or the carrot cake with pineapple. Never chocolate, because SHE didn't like chocolate (even though most people do). I eventually convinced her that she should occasionally order cakes with a broader audience in mind. :0
