Happy Birthday, Selu and fairyd123!
I hope you're having a wonderful day, maerhys47 and fairyd123, full of sunshine and happiness! If I can drabble you up something special, please let me know in the comments below. :)

So, people at large... any of you over 35 or so (or WAY over, like me)? Have you found that as you've gotten older, your back just wants to sieze up once in awhile?

Saturday was like that for me. I held off the actual locking-up part, but my back's been waking me up the last few nights because the bed makes it hurt. And the older I get, the more prone my back is to punishing me for reaching out too far, or staying bent over too long (yardwork!)

But there are also times like this weekend where I'm not doing anything and I haven't for days, and it still wants to lock up. What is that all about? Any why is it so persistent? :(

I've got a story or two to finish this week(if I could stay awake!). We haven't entered the major network TV season yet, so I'm not tied to nightly viewing. In fact, I've lost a few more beloved shows (24 among them) and a few others continue into areas that I've been less-than-happy with. There are new network (non-cable) shows coming down the pike, but most of them have gotten mixed reviews. This is where you can help!

Poll #1619252 New 2010 Network TV Shows

The new network shows I'm looking forward to this fall are...

I tend to like

Prime-Time Soap Operas
Sci-Fi shows
Quirky shows that don't fit into just one box

And by the way... (sure, what's on your mind?)

Hee! Thank you, doll! I am gonna have to ask for M/L or L&M because there is never enough fic to satisfy me.

I know what the M/L is, but is L&M Gen?

Any prompts/etc. you'd like? :D *cake-flourish*
Maerhysmaerhys on September 16th, 2010 01:19 am (UTC)
Yeah, gen or slash, whatever works for you.

Um.... prompt? How about rain, autumn chill, changing seasons... something along those lines.

Well, this took MUCH longer than I expected, and had no hope of staying a drabble. Still, I hope it's what you were looking for, and may it take a little of the chill out of your bones ♥ :

I'm over 35, but my back issues are due to past trauma more than anything else. If you can afford it and can find a good one, I recommend a chiropractor.
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphorshalfshellvenus on September 16th, 2010 04:29 am (UTC)
I'm anti-chiropractor, so we'll have to agree to disagree on that!

My mid-thirties was when the seizing-up started (as opposed to passing twinges), and I assume it's age-related. Annoying, for sure!

You mentioned you hadn't been doing much of anything, and that could be a problem too. Maybe try more walking? An evening stroll?
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphorshalfshellvenus on September 16th, 2010 05:03 am (UTC)
I exercise quite a bit, but it's usually not walking, and that was something I meant to do on Saturday to loosen things up! Ran out of daylight, though. :0

I know several people with chronic back problems, and walking does help most of them. Strolling really does me in, but walking at a nice fast pace is great!

Two day migraine because my lower back got all twisted and pinched a nerve, sending intense pain into my left eye and allaround PAIN IN MY NECK. I've ordered a posture-corrector from my chiropractor, hoping it will help me not hunch over the keyboard (just caught myself doing it again). The changing weather ALWAYS causes my back to weaken and go out. Oh, yippee. I've had this problem for 15 years though, so it's not just because I've passed That Milestone.

Is it bad I'm planning to watch two new shows just for the guest stars? Hawaii 5-0 premiere has James Marsters and L&O:LA premiere has Jim Beaver. I doubt I watch beyond that. I'm not excited for SPN (I'll be at an NCIS convention the night it premieres - yah, con!).

Shows I watch:
Warehouse 13 (finale next week)
Ghost Hunters if I'm bored
Hoarders (both versions)
random HGTV stuff, esp. with Mike Holmes
-off air right now-
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphorshalfshellvenus on September 16th, 2010 04:36 am (UTC)
I see someone else is also excited for Hawaii-5-0, and I can see why if James Marsters is on it. And I'd watch L&O: LA for Jim Beaver too! I can see starting up a new franchise (there's an L&O: UK we know nothing about over here), though I liked the "classic" one and its cast SO much that I hated to see it end. :(

I'm worried about SPN this year, given that I didn't like last year (nor most of S4 and S3). "Chuck" is the other one that worries me a little, as I didn't like the direction of S3 much (lost a lot of the show's charm).

I watch Castle (for fun), never could get into NCIs though a lot of my f-list likes it. We watch other stuff on Hulu and via Netflix (the cable stuff), but there's a huge bunch of new network stuff coming out that could be intriguing or bad. Michael Chiklis (iffy show), William Shatner with rude humor (tossup, because he can be damn funny), Jimmy Smits in something that's kind of getting panned...

Where's the Reaper/Better Off Ted kinds of stuff?
Kronette: TW-CoEkronette on September 18th, 2010 04:49 am (UTC)
Well, I won't even be home for the SPN premiere - I'll be in LA for the NCIS Fan Fest. Castle is definitely one of my "fun" shows, like Psych. Not too much drama and just...fun. I didn't realize it was premiering Monday - must fix my DVR!

It's kind of sad that my TV viewing has gone down, but in a way it's better. Instead of TV, maybe I can get some more of the home improvements done :)

the only new show i can even think of is hawaii 5-0, because i keep seeing previews for it on tv. i like scott caan and daniel dae kim and grace park, and unless the premiere is completely horrible, i'm kind of interested in it. it looks fun and bright and now that burn notice is on hiatus, i could use a show that looks like that. i mean, hawaii! beaches! sun! girls in bikinis! boys in whatever the equivalent is!

considering the other things i'm going to be watching are sons of anarchy, criminal minds, terriers, and spn.... at least until all my cable shows come back in the winter. (i like terriers. it's not a happy-fun show but it's also not unrelentingly grim, and the two leads have really cute banter and some nice partner chemistry, and one of them has a girlfriend i like and the other has an ex-wife i also like! and there's a dog. :D )
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphors: Birthdayhalfshellvenus on September 16th, 2010 06:29 pm (UTC)
Looks like I'll be giving Hawaii 5-0 a try, based on several other votes! And I'll see if I can pick up Terriers on Hulu, because I heard a radio ad for it or something and it really sounded interesting.

It's interesting to me that FX puts out such interesting non-Sci Fi show. The Shield was their doing, and that show was incredible
