And other stuff...
Does anyone know where I might locate a download of SPN 5x15? I seem to have accidentally deleted an episode, and I'm pretty sure it's that one. :(

We're finishing up S2 of Life on DVD. I don't know what TPTB were thinking, but the second half of the season goes very wrong when Charlie and Reese are separated all the time. Why did they do that? It thwarts the parts of the show that really worked. :( On the bizarre side, I realize now that I watched 2x03/2x04 onward when the show first aired. All of these later S2 episodes are really familiar! At least now I have some context for them. ;)

I forgot to mention that we also watched Down With Love last weekend, courtesy of a library loan. The 60s clothing fads are eye-poppingly painful at times (on purpose!), while some of the background decor is really striking. I must admit, I wasn't much interested in the romantic story arc of the Renee Zellweger and Ewan McGregor characters. It was the David Hyde Pierce/Sarah Paulson thing that kept me going instead!

For Ewan... I posted a few days ago about personal aesthetics and such, and I guess I can objectively say that he's good-looking, but he really doesn't 'grab' me. He's kind of boy-next-door good-looking (ordinary). And yet, I know there are people who find him ravishing! Well, Velvet Goldmine, sure—I can see that. But in the main... no.

He is one of the few attractive red-haired men around. There's Eric Stolz (the handsome side of ordinary, in my book), and Simon Baker (whom I think of as having light red hair instead of blond hair, and Simon is the cat's meow). Can't think of any others. There are tons of pretty red-haired women (including fake redheads who have the skin tones to be the real deal, and you'd swear they were). But among men, it seems somewhat... accursed.

Don't flog me, these are just my opinions! I'm sure there are lots of red-haired men that other people love, but that I probably find 'meh.'

I updated a bunch of my fic pages last night. This weekend: soccer, haircuts for the kids, and (I swear it will be done) climbing around on the roof to get rid of overhanging branches and put poison in the eaves, because things are skittering around between the floors of the house! Yikes. :(

What will all of you be up to? Adventures? Bonfires? Sewing Halloween costumes?

I would put Damien Lewis and Scott Grimes in the attractive red-headed men category. But yikes about the skittering! Good lock on the roof.

I wish I found Damien Lewis good-looking, but I really don't. I find him charming, though. I'll have to look up Scott Grimes!

The skittering... Yick! I thought we'd taken care of that last year, but it's back. They're back.

And I hate the way the cats sit next to me on the sofa and give me the big-eyed "Whuh?!?" when they hear those noises. They're falling down on the job, I tell you!

Scott Grimes is not the world's MOST attractive guy, but I had a crush on him when I was a tween, and it was cool to see him show back up on TV as an adult.

I'd put him in the "meh" box, but he's not UNattractive by any means. Pleasant-looking. And there's nothing wrong with that! :)

eztv? Don't know if the download is still good, worked back when.

It might still be around, you're right. That's where I got it in the first place, but they get iffy after too much time goes by. Worth a try!

Thanks! :)

Be careful up on the roof! I always have a near heart attack whenever my husband goes up there to clean the eaves - I am deathly afraid of heights.

I used to be big on Ewan but no so much any more. Funny how tastes can change like that. I've never really thought of him as a redhead, but I suppose you're right. I'm not usually into guys with red hair, but actually my husband has dirty blonde hair with little flecks of copper when the light is right, and when he grows a beard, it's most definitely red. Hmm.

I'm afraid of heights (and I have vertigo, which just gives me a reason to be afraid!) But I'm willing to crab-crawl my way around carefully. It would be an even bigger pain if I couldn't go out the kids' bedroom windows. THAT helps.

Ewan himself is very charming, but his roles sometimes "mute" that aspect of him. Still think he's only fairly good-looking, but it's so much about individual taste. I mean, I find Craig Ferguson far more attractive than most people probably do. He's cute and boyish, but his personality knocks my socks off. Much the same for Stephen Colbert. ;)

tony curran, man! curly red-blond hair, scottish accent, has a Nose. (like adrien brody has a Nose. i have developed a thing for Noses.)

also i think rupert grint is VERY cute but admitting it makes me feel like a GIANT PERV. even tho he is now legal. but still.

i wouldn't have classified ewan as a ginger, tho....

and yeah, be careful on the roof!

Eee! Tony Curran is very much my idea of "not attractive." Though I sometimes have a thing for Noses too. Nikolai Coster-Waldau, for instance. Fascinating nose, and it goes with his looks.

Rupert IS kind of cute, actually, but there is that "kid"/perv thing for me too. Much like Zac Efron-- just too young!

Ewan has auburn hair, I think. Sometimes it looks really red, others it's darker (especially when Brylcreamed, like in that movie). There's that video clip of him kissing Hayden Christensen (I know you must've see that one-- whoo, slashy!), and he's got the dull red thing going there.

admittedly, i think tony's kind of an acquired taste. (you're making the same face as your icon, aren't you. hee.)

>>here's that video clip of him kissing Hayden Christensen (I know you must've see that one-- whoo, slashy!)<<

i have not! i didn't even know such a thing exists! altho i'm not surprised - i love that ewan's totally comfortable smooching other guys and dropping his pants and everything.

I think this boy-kissing picspam on green_queen's journal is still up. The kiss is there, along with many others. \o/

Seth Green is quite endearing. He's the only one I can think of.
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphorshalfshellvenus on September 10th, 2010 10:18 pm (UTC)
I do enjoy him, though I don't consider him good-looking either. But not ugly. Why so little handsomeness among the men?

He's quite funny, though, which is always a plus. :)

I don't know if he's considered a redhead, possibly strawberry blond, but - Robert Redford, back in the day.

And I've always liked Eric Stolz - not drop-dead handsome, but not quite ordinary.

Ummm, oh! I find Kevin McKidd (from Rome) *quite* attractive!
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphors: Yay!halfshellvenus on September 11th, 2010 04:56 am (UTC)
Oooh, ooh! Yes, I consider Robert Redford to be red-headed. "Strawberry blond" is a phrase other people (who aren't me) use to describe really light red hair. Which, you know... is not blond!

Hmmm, Kevin McKidd. I looked him up, and although he's not what I think of as "really good-looking," he's got some major charisma that comes through even in still photos. Damn-- some people get a triple dose of it, and who knows why!

Thanks for the pointer. :)

I'm super far behind with *all* the internets, but I saw this and thought I should try to help.

Thank you! I meant to download last weekend, and then it got away from me. I spent 2 extra hours on the roof, and wound up cutting Christopher's hair by porchlight.

Can you keep them up through this weekend? I'll get them then for sure!

*hugs* *cakelaunch*

Two *extra* hours on the roof? My god! I can't even imagine.

Anyway, I didn't actually upload those files myself, but they should definitely be up over the weekend, and longer. If they are deleted, it's because someone reported them for violation of terms of service. But, if that does happen, no worries: We'll take care of you.

*hugs* *catches cake*

I've downloaded it. Thanks so much! :D
