And here I thought I was going to post last Friday..

or Monday... or you know, sometime before now.

I've been busy trying to keep up with the Bleeding Cuticles Roadkill Challenge. So far so good, but the nightly bedtimes of 1:00-2:00am are taking a toll. Nuts.

Apropos of the above, I'm continuing to put the "random" in Random Fandom. Added White Collar to the list this week, and wrote another Burn Notice story. I never expected to write the first fandom, but isn't it always that way? Sometimes all it takes is a writing challenge to make you desperate enough to flail branch out.

Last Friday, while working at home, I could have sworn I heard The Whale having a conversation with some random woman outside. I'd hear her voice, and then his Meh or Mrowr or muhNoof! at all the right points. This is not as weird as it seems-- we sometimes joke that the Whale is 50% "mouth." Though given that he's half-Siamese, maybe that ISN'T a joke...

My parents visited last Saturday, then on Sunday we took Christopher to the Zoo (because he loves it and his sister doesn't, and she was still at camp). Nice weekend, even though only the laundry really got done.

Now I'm planning for both kids' birthday parties (Lauren's is on Saturday, Christopher's the Saturday afterward). Lauren has been waffling over whether she wants any kind of 'interesting' cake (god, turning 13 is SUCH a headache of second-guessing and worries over being 'cool'). I'm making Christopher a monster-themed cake, which I'll post pictures of later.

Hope you're all having a great summer so far. How can it be August already?

And in political news: oh Target, why do you make me boycott your cluelessly discriminatory ass? :(
