Die Hard 4 Slash Fiction: "Reeling" (John/Matt, PG)
Title: Reeling
Fandom: Die Hard 4
Author: HalfshellVenus
Characters: John/Matt (Slash, Ficlet)
Rating: PG
Summary: John McClane can be overwhelming, but everyone has to learn that for himself.
Author's Notes: A very late birthday ficlet for jasmasson, who always enjoys this pairing.
Also for rosie_spleen's Bleeding Cuticles Roadkill Challenge (I'm calling this one a Thursday story), and writers_choice ("Dizzy").

x-x-x-x-x

It hadn't started off well, Matt had to admit. He'd gone on the defensive when McClane came to his apartment to bring him in—behaved like an asshole, only to get half-blown-up all the way out the door and prove McClane right.

It put him in a vulnerable position, which no one liked anyway, and when his blood sugar crashed during the car ride afterward he might have gotten a little desperate. He'd said a few wild things, God knew what—it happened, okay? If he was lucky, they'd be forgotten.

But in the tunnel, surrounded by chaos while McClane held him down in an unreal island of calm, something finally clicked.

It wasn't just the danger or the relief coursing through him that got Matt flustered and sped up his heart.

It was the touch of his muscle-clad god-I-must-be-losing-it-he-smells-so-good Marvel-comics wet dream and personal rescuer instead.

Heeheehee. Oh, Matt. He does that to everyone.

God, the sight of McClane's chest alone makes me forget words. G.U.H. ;)

Heh, this one amused me. Poor Matt, that day was rather more of a roller-coaster than perhaps he was used to :)

You're not kidding! I think he'd been saved three times before noon as it was, not to mention the pheremone-laden-stud-rescuer situation. ;)

Love it. And I think heart-palpitations mouth-hanging-open McClane GUHness is quite common. ;)

Me too! But poor Matt had no way of knowing that, until it all eventually got to him.

Mmmm, what a way to go...

Hey, they were in a life or death situation, and McClane couldn't keep his hands off of him. Very sexy situation, indeed.

and McClane couldn't keep his hands off of him.

No kidding! It's one of the reasons that movie practically slashes itself. And also why it's so immensely appealing, in addition to the chemistry between the stars. Plus, I don't think Bruce Willis has ever been hotter!

" I don't think Bruce Willis has ever been hotter!"

I totally agree. His age suits him, and he wasn't so much the wiseguy, smartass in this movie as he was the big, strong protective man. Loved the scenes at the end with Lucy and Matt. She finally realized how much he loved her, and he showed Matt such respect. It was yummy!

and he wasn't so much the wiseguy, smartass in this movie as he was the big, strong protective man.

Exactly-- I've never liked the smirking wiseass side to many of Willis' characters, but in this movie he was more sardonic and confident and protective, and that is a delicious fit for him!

Thank you thank you thank you!
This is wonderful! If I'd been on line I absolutely WOULD have picked a DH4 fic - I love them so and there's so few... especially so few perfect ones like this.

Who wouldn't react to John McClane that way? Particularly when he spent a good ten minutes feeling you upmanfully protecting you?! ;)

Re: Thank you thank you thank you!
Yay, I'm so glad you found this! I was hoping it would suit you, too, once I figured out a story-type you'd probably like.

Who wouldn't react to John McClane that way?
Oh boy, there's an icon of him in a tight, tight shirt from a scene in this movie that just mesmerizes me. He's way more brawny than I usually like, but the hormones do not care-- they stand up and salute his awesomeness every time!

If I had that right next to me (touching, leaning, radiating) with the husky sardonic voice that is all McClane, I'd be a goner just like Matt.

So glad you liked it. Yeah for birthdays! They inspire stories that would never have gotten written!

John is a bit of a comic book hero on the big screen, isn't he? Heh.

In a bursting-at-all-the-right-seems can't-take-your-eyes-off-of-him way.

I think it reached its apex with DH4, though I'll be watching DH5 just to... make sure. ;)

YEAH Very well!!!! I love the "Marvel-comics wet dream" line! .
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphors: John/Matt Lovehalfshellvenus on August 8th, 2010 06:06 am (UTC)
That seems to be an interpretation of McClane's appeal that many people can solidly support!

He IS all that and a bag of chips round of ammunition!

Thanks for reading!

Poor Mattie!
He doesn't even know what hit him!
Besides the next few days he's about to have.
McClane is a force of nature. Even when he's not trying to be a hero.
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphors: John/Matt Lovehalfshellvenus on August 12th, 2010 12:51 am (UTC)
A force of nature is right-- he's like packaged testosterone crossed with MacGuyver and topped off with badass.

Mmmm, mmm, mmm. When it's all over, Matt will think losing his apartment was a small price to pay. :D
