I thought I was starting our taxes today, but TurboTax '09 refuses to install on my PC. Didn't see that coming. This could take some doing, and there's already grief waiting in the form of inheritances and lump sum payments in and out for disability. I feel a filing extension coming on. Ugh.
We're headed to Santa Cruz mid-week for Spring Break with the kids. The weather forecast is shifting toward rain, though. *bites nails* I may suddenly become grateful for the kid movies released in the last few weeks.
I've postponed putting on my new bicycle seat forever, but I need to bite the bullet. It's all the micro-adjusting afterward that I hate (and the wind has to die down before I can be sure the seat's in the right spot). Friday's bike ride included turkeys in a field with their tails fanned out. It was kind of surreal; they don't strut around, they don't fight—they just stand there. I don't know much about turkey mating habits, so maybe this is, "Check me out. You like it, come on over." I also saw that escapee swan again, and it's in the same part of the river. I think it's hoping another swan will show up, in which case the wait will be long and lonely.
Not to slight Dei or anything, but the Duke flag has one creepy-ass mascot. Seriously.
Readers at Fanfiction.net are such a mixed bag. Some of them have come over here (Yay!) and settled in happily, and others are like the bozo who reviewed my latest Chuck/Casey story and complained that it was Slash (as advertised—D.U.H.) or the person who wanted to know where to find more Hurt Locker stories but did not leave comments on the two I'd written that she loved. *eye roll* I'm also amazed that the site still doesn't understand how to deal with crossovers. Hint: link from both fandoms, instead of creating a "crossover basement" area that no-one reads.
Edna Mode is still my favorite character in The Incredibles. "Who are you, what do you want? My, you've gotten fat..." We've been calling the Simpsons' illustrator who voices her 'Brad Brid' for so long, I almost forget that his last name is actually 'Bird' instead.
