The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphors

Still behind, still more absentee than I'd like...

I just can't seem to get caught up on my f-list, and I'm flunking the fab_feb_friends completely! I'm sorry to be so AWOL—I hope to be tuning in more often than just to post fic.

And yes, I have one of those that should go up a little later. And no, it is NOT one of the two remaining drabble-meme offerings I still have left to do. Those have never taken more than about 7-10 days before, but I'm out to a month now! However, they VILL get finished.

We're mostly caught up on our weekly TV shows, except for last week's Fringe. I still don't see why this year's network schedule has so many holes with _nothing_, and then the few shows we watch are in collision. Seriously, The Mentalist and Fringe AND Supernatural all have to be on Thursdays at 9pm? Imagine if we were watching Grey's Anatomy too (though thank god we're not).

I think The Good Wife is no longer head-to-head with L&O:SVU, though it's hard to tell what with the pre-emptions and repeats. How about putting that one back on at 10pm, now that Leno's bomb has been defused?

I really enjoyed last night's House, which was all from Cuddy's POV for a change. I'm surprised she hasn't either fired House or buried him in a basement—he adds way too much drama to her life. I still need to re-watch part of last week's show, because—get this—I was out of the room during the "possum-in-the-tub" part of the episode! Though I'd only be traumatizing myself, I'm sure. Possums are like bigger, more evil, more vicious versions of rats. What kind of animal needs that many spiky teeth? Yick!

The kids watched the Superbowl, while HSH got groceries and I went running and then did yardwork. Part of that was because Sunday until 1pm was the kids' basketball stuff. Saturday, Lauren had her first "rec-league" game, in which she played better than she ever has. She not only dribbled, she backed into a defensive player and pushed for position while dribbling, AND she had a two free-throw opportunity and made both. She hasn't shot free-throws in a game since 5th grade, so that was a shocker. Her team's situation was awful—only 4 players, and the coach was sick so a players' father stepped in (although he was awesome, so no loss there). The other team insisted on playing 5 players to our team's 4 all the way through the game, and ran through her bench of substitutes too. 10-4 at halftime, 24-8 final score because by the time our girls were tired. But poor sportsmanship aside on the part of the other coach... that's a situation that forces you to really bring up your game, and our girls more than met the challenge. All of the parents were very proud. :)

Let's hope there's at least a fifth player this weekend, though. :0
