Big thanks to all who shared their Sam, Dean, Jensen, and Jared pics with me in this post over the weekend. It was a fandom swap meet, and I've saved off prettiness to replace the pics I lost!

Pimpage, because I know some of my f-listers will be interested in this: Sign-ups for the first SPN femmeslash exchange at spn_fs_exchange are open. Hurry, before you miss your chance!

I'm still battling the cold from last week, which never really got fierce but is still trying to creep into my lungs. I biked in the garage on Sunday instead of running, because stuff would repeatedly settle at the top of my lungs, and that's no good when you need the big airflow. I could have biked outdoors, but we burned up our daylight by running off to a matinee of The Blind Side after the kids left with their aunt for the Bay Area. We enjoyed the movie, and it'll be okay for Christopher (though I warned him to shut his eyes and ears during one scene in particular).

I also prowled around Etsy a lot, looking at penguin-related things (my weakness). Lots of cute zippered pouches, though I can't think of anyone with a real need for one of those. I found a penguin Nativity Set, a penguin sitting on a Star Of David, a Zombie Penguin Popsicle (no idea why someone would make that, but you HAVE to look anyway), and Dead Penguins Are Superstars (I have no explanation for that one). o_O

anteka also just posted up these Olive Penguin Appetizers, which are almost too cute to eat. But darned if I don't covet them!

Still turning over Christmas gift ideas in my head. If it seems like I'm skipping Thanksgiving, it's because we're kind of not doing that this year. The kids will be having an actual Thanksgiving feast at their aunt's, and we'll be vegging out and resting. Had the kids stayed here, I was seriously considering Chinese Food, because HSH is our cook and he won't be up to eating anything let alone making it (Chemo #7 of 8 is today). So mentally, I'm started the Christmas flailing a little early and hoping to have it finished early too, just to remove some of the stress. I wind up doing almost all the shopping for everyone as it is (including HSH's relatives), and it wipes me out. I do have an unusual gift for Lauren, though, randomly discovered at a mall shop she dragged me into: a lemon-scented candle. I had one of those as a pre-teen (I think it was a gift from my older sister), and I could not get enough of it. Loved the smell! Apparently Lauren does too. Just have to track one down now...

What scene in the Blindside are you talking about? We saw it over the weekend. I just wondered what scene you felt was inappropriate. I liked it--it was a very feel-good movie, and it's nice to know that good things happen to people like that. I thought real life Big Mike was really handsome too.

Not so much inappropriate as overly intense and scary for Christopher.

It was the scene where Big Mike goes into the apartment of the project drug dealer, and things escalate and the dealer flashes his gun and there's this explosion of anger that winds up knocking over a crib with a baby in it. I just think that will prove to be "too much" for Christopher. I was very pleased that all the drugs/sex were mostly implied and not heavily emphasized, because he really does want to see that movie and if it's too much then I have to veto it.

The pictures of real life Big Mike and the Tuohy family were wonderful-- so expressive, so full of love, such a testament to hope. And he IS handsome, which never hurts a person in the long run!

Yeah, that's the only scene in the whole movie that really scared me too--I mean I knew that they guy got drafted into the NFL, so i knew he didn't die or anything, but it still scared me a little. It's so interesting that he could come from such an awful place and just be a gentle giant.

I always like to hear what parents deem too much for their kids (and granted every kid is different), but I often don't even think about it since I've never had to screen for kids. So it's interesting to me.
