Tales From The Gym...
I mentioned a great Sports Illustrated article I read at the gym a few weeks ago, and I've found the online link for it: High-Jumper Dick Fosbury, and the accidental revolution of a sport.

Here are a few others that've caught my attention lately (same magazine):
- Just Go For It!, in which a high school football coach crunches the numbers and decides that punting and kicking have no place in his game.
- The Rehabilitation of Marc Buoniconti, a man paralyzed during a college football game who now spends his time fundraising for medical research that is finding new ways to help others survive heart-attacks, strokes, and spinal-cord injuries with less damage than ever.
- The Power Of One, or how a small-town Texas girl won the state track team championships by herself. Twice.

All of these were surprisingly compelling reads from a magazine I usually leaf through only in hopes of random mention of the U of O Ducks, or basketball articles.

I hope someone besides me enjoys them! The only one that's more "American-specific" is the football one, but it's short.

I found them all fascinating, in totally different ways, and also brought the last one home to share with HSH before I discovered the online link to it.
