Supernatural Het Drabble: "Transfiguration" (Dean/Anna, PG-13)
Title: Transfiguration
Author: HalfshellVenus
Characters: Dean/Anna (Het, Drabble)
Rating: PG-13
Summary (4x10, "Heaven and Hell"): Inside impossible contradictions, Dean finds a new truth.
Author's Notes: Happy Birthday to the lovely elanurel. I hope this pleases you. :)
Also for supernatural100, this is "forgiveness."

x-x-x-x-x

After Hell—and his return—Dean was done with surprises.

Or so he thought.

Sex was a diversion to him, period. It might be a sin, not that he cared, but never a sacrament. Not for him.

Then an angel asked for the one thing he had to give, and he couldn't refuse. Her longing was forgiveness, her touch absolution. He'd never been so careful—with her trust lying between them, delicate and precious. The slightest mistake could have crushed it.

"Thank you," she whispered, utterly sincere.

Later, he wondered whether he'd bestowed that gift, or been given it instead.

That is beatiful, truly. I've got tears in my eyes.

Thank you so much! And you picked out my favorite line of them all, too. There was such reverence in how Dean treated her (so understandable), and if this was to be her one and only time before becoming an angel again, he would feel compelled to be so careful. Such pressure, but also... such an honor as well.

aw, dean. this is really sweet. and it kind of makes sense that he might find some kind of forgiveness in sex.

I think Anna choosing him-- of all people, Dean who has been in Hell and done terrible things there, and never thought much of himself apart from being a brother, a hunter, and good-looking-- must have spoken to the depths of the soul he thought was still lost.

It must have felt like forgiveness, an angel choosing him despite all he'd been and done.

I have been sitting here trying to write something that doesn't include the words "love" and "adore" and "squee" in it.

But I can't. I love your writing, how elegant it is and how you can convey so much with the words you choose - and you've conveyed exactly what I thought of Dean's encounter with Anna. That it was about forgiveness and the consolation that comes with it.

I can't even choose a favorite line; it's beautiful and perfect.

So, that's my long-winded way of saying: it pleased me very much. ;)

I'm so glad you liked this! I was hoping that Dean/Anna wasn't a randomly hated pairing for you, and this moment seemed to transcend the sexual part of the pairing simply for what it said that she chose Dean (of all men) and how that must have made him feel after going to Hell and barely surviving his return.

Many happy returns of your special day, and I hope this added to the feeling of being loved and treasured. ♥

Thank you so much! It's obviously not my usual territory, but I hoped it would really speak to Branni. :)

This is lovely, and feels spot-on to me how Dean might've viewed what happened with Anna.

It has to be one of the most unusual and unexpected things anyone's ever asked of him, and after everything that happened in Hell...it really must have felt like some kind of absolution, given who she finally realized she was.

Thanks for reading!

Later, he wondered whether he'd bestowed that gift, or been given it instead.

I think it worked both ways, no doubt about it in my head.

Me too-- though I suspect he took more away from it, spiritually, than she did. And what an unusual situation THAT would be for Dean!

Oh, this is lovely! And this is exactly how I saw Anna in that ep - as this gentle being that had the ability to begin healing and restoring Dean. Loved it!

I can't believe you located this, because my fic pages really need updating! Though there are probably only 2-4 things under my "spn_het" tag, I'll admit!

One of things I liked about Anna was the transformation from a regular girl hearing voices to being someone who started to remember her true past and then acquired her "old self" again, all over the course of that episode. I thought the actress did a good job with that, too.

By the time she reached the point with Dean where she asked him to make love to her, I think that was more about healing Dean than anything actually to do with her own "needs" or "wants." And the delicate way he responded to her request was amazing and thoroughly convincing, in a setting that could otherwise have been cheesy.

The contrast between what was "supposed" to be happening in that scene (from what Dean probably thought) to what was "actually" happening was something I really loved, in an episode with some questionable writing (IMO).

Thanks for reading and commenting!
