How The Mighty Are...

This morning is utter fail so far. I had everything set up to bike into work, except that I apparently forgot to pull up the part of my alarm clock last night that actually turns on the alarm! I kept wondering why it was so light in our bedroom, and "Shouldn't it be time to get up by now?" By the time I opened my eyes enough to see the clock, it was 9:15 instead of the 7:30 I was aiming for. AUGH! Massive flailing followed, to get ready ASAP and drive into work. But wait, there's more...

Last week, my neighbor and I had a fender-bender while backing out of our respective driveways. Which is to say that she got the rear passenger door of the Prius with her SUV (and was mortified). So this morning, I had to negotiate the piece of rental-car evil that my husband brought home yesterday. I couldn't find the emergency brake on this thing for the longest time, and I can't get the seat to go back any farther (unless it's already maxed out). The headrest comes too far forward, the gas pedal is slippery and too recessed compared to the brake pedal. It's completely disorienting. Plus, with our 13 1/2-year-old 4Runner and the 17-year-old Accord we just got rid of for the Prius, we're not used to these modern cars! Too many buttons and functions!

Halfway to work, I realized that the rental car I was driving was a white 2004 Chevy Impala. How the mighty are fallen! This thing is a far cry from the Metallicar, let me tell you. :(

On a different note, a lady at the gym was wearing a T-shirt last week that I now covet. I'm sure several of you will understand why. ;) The slogan on it read,

If I don't need that shirt now, I definitely will in the future!
