HalfshellHusband's MRI got processed, and his doctor called to tell us that there is a growth in the bone/muscle in the area of HSH's knee that's been aching for months now.

The doctor said it "may" be bone cancer, which is rare and usually starts somewhere else. So HSH has gotten chest x-rays now and is waiting to get appointments for a CTscan and a biopsy (Oakland facility). The sooner the better, since it took a month for that MRI that points toward panic as far as we're both concerned.

I had a sleepless night, as you can imagine, and I'm afraid to plan anything for the summer.

While we don't want to borrow trouble, since we don't know actually what this is yet, I can't help worrying because I can't think of anything ELSE that an unexpected "growth" points to. It's gotten much worse in the last month while waiting for that MRI, and HSH can hardly get his shoe on over the swelling now.

I'll be over here biting all my fingernails off. :(

i cross my fingers for speedy ct scan and biopsy results, and send good thoughts that it's something a little less, er, fraught than cancer. *hugs*

I'm sure hoping so. I'm terrified by the thought of cancer, especially if it's an "echo" of cancer that started somewhere else.
