Category: Sam and Dean (Genfic, Drabbles)
Summary: Sam’s POV. Two drabbles.
Author’s Notes: Written for the supernatural100 “Plants” Drabble Challenge.
When Sam was in first grade they planted seeds in flowerpots. The other kids made pictures and stories while he wondered if he’d be there when those seeds finally sprouted.
He saw the seedlings but not the flowers. His family followed a group of hauntings to a new state one month later.
With Jess, their living room swam in greenery. Palms and ferns-- a nervous ficus-- crowded the sofa as he plowed through pre-Law texts. It was like communing with a friendly forest—the kind of life he’d never known.
He misses it in this road-tour Hell that never ends...
A Botany of Love
Their mother was a perfect rose, all softness, sweetness, grace. As they pass by someone’s garden, a gleam of yellow stops his eye. He imagines her nodding as they continue on.
Jess was a lily with a hidden center. That lovely, curving beauty and modest secret describe her spirit. He will leave one where she’s buried in California, when he can.
Their father is knotweed, fiercely persistent. An unremarkable surface guards its strength from watching eyes.
Dean is a thistle that only blooms when no-one’s watching.
But Sam is ivy, ever-reaching. Thriving, stubborn-- impossible to beat down. He survives undaunted.
