Terminator: SCC Drabble: Haunted (PG)
Title: Haunted
Author: HalfshellVenus
Characters: Derek, Cameron (Gen, Drabble)
Rating: PG
Summary: When Derek looks at her, he sees a ghost.
Author's Notes: Drabble Meme offering for miss_mandy, whom I hope will think the spirit of this matches the request. Some speculation based on the finale and 2x04, "Allison From Palmdale."

x-x-x-x-x

When Derek looks at her, he sees a ghost.

He knows how John Connor felt about her, understands not wanting to let go. But projecting a real woman onto a machine… it's just wrong.

He knew Allison before John did, loved her first. The robot isn't Allison.

Derek's relieved when John sends Cameron into the past. No memories revived and destroyed around every corner, no pangs at the firelight shining through her hair.

When John sends him back, Derek knows what's waiting.

Her eyes are almost real.

But his name flattens in her mouth like nothing more than passing data.

Oh you're such a tease! ;P

I love it, especially this part:

He knew Allison before John did, loved her first.

I want to see that in a fic!

:D I already pushed the speculation pretty far as it was, though that finale really made me wonder. I want a Season Three!

Glad you liked it. First time for SCC, so not too bad! \o/

This is haunting! I love Allison stories with the Reese brothers and how Cameron impacts their psyche.

Thank you! I haven't actually read anything in the fandom, and that episode was confusing enough that I had to visit a recap site. But with that plus the finale... SO many possibilities for what happened before. :)

There's not much in the way of fan fic. I wrote a small something after "Allison From Palmdale" that's Derek telling John about the past in which there was some Allison/Kyle but when I went looking way back in the fall there was next to nothing.

There are a lot of people on my f-list who enjoy the show, but not many of them write for it. miss_mandy, of course, and etherealflaim did some S1 slash, but he's been MIA for awhile thanks to no Internet connection.

Between that episode, and seeing what really appeared to be a human version of Cameron in the finale, I'm kind of desperate for the show to come back and unravel what was behind that! I liked S1 pretty well, but S2 was utterly awesome. Fantastic writing and characters, and I love the cast.

I need to finish watching season two... I got spoiled and demoralized. *sigh* But I hear it was really good, so I am trying to drum up my joy again.

I found it to be a difficult show to write for because I have more of the movie canon memorized and what didn't mesh with the movies always, I guess, turned me off? So to speak? That being said I loved writing gen fic for Derek and John. I have about seven stories in progress that I need to finish eventually...

I think you'll really enjoy the rest of S2 (the storytelling style is so much more complex, and the plots are much more layered).

Here's a fic (no spoilers) I think you'll like, one that whereupon did for her own version of the drabble meme: here.

Thanks! I'll check it out.

Oh, this is excellent. Such a delicious possibility -- haunting and perfect.

Thank you so much! I loved the finale for S2 (and I hope the series gets renewed, but moreover I loved all the interesting threads and hints that showed up in the second season, not to mention the increased complexity of the storytelling style.

The "Allison From Palmdale" episode was a real surprise, and the appearance of what seemed to be Allison in the finale raised up all sorts of possibilities.

Thanks for reading! I look forward to your Ellison one. I'm torn between which I enjoy more: simply listening to his voice (calm smoothness) in conversation with Catharine Weaver's Scottish lilt, or the unwinding of his fascinating conversations with John Henry. In the end, I thought the latter had more to offer as a story. *is full of anticipation*

Very much, that! I'm loving it even more the second time around -- there's so much that takes on increased significance in light of the finale. (Which I, too, am hoping is the season finale, rather than the series finale.)

Thank you! Some of my favorite scenes are the interactions between Ellison and Weaver -- I'm just not sure if I like them more than those between Ellison and John Henry, so . . . yes. Thank you for the awesome prompt!

(And again, I loved this story -- thank you for writing it!)

Aww..sad. Good job conveying the feelings in such a short piece.

Thank you!

That finale gave me so much to think about, seeing what appeared to be the human version of Cameron at Derek's side. And since we know about Allison now... there's such melancholy in knowing that John Connor chose to emulate a real person, so many possible stories behind that.
