Midnight Meme...
... while I run through my f-list (still back on Dec. 21. Ouch!).

If you could force me to write anything, what would it be?

Because I'm curious, and you never know what might spark something off!

Update: I did actually wind up writing Michael/Sucre, another Lincoln/Veronica, and finished the lingering Iron Man Tony/Rhodey story. I think that's 3/6, so not bad!

Dean/Ruby,because you'd make it hot and angsty
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphorshalfshellvenus on December 27th, 2008 09:23 am (UTC)
Hmmm, I wonder if I would? I really struggle with Het on the whole. Though I appreciate the compliment very much!

Funny how Dean/Ruby seems more possible to me in S3 (before the whole canon Sam/Ruby thing), and yet never really at all because of Dean's whole issue with demons. His thinking there is still very black-and-white. Evilguaranteed. That's got to be a relief after S2 for him. :0

More Michael/Mahone))) I love that pairing and I love your writing, and the combination would be awesome)))
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphors: Alexhalfshellvenus on December 27th, 2008 09:24 am (UTC)
Aw, that's sweet! Thank you!

I have a fundamental Michael/Mahone problem in that it's not my OTP and also that it's hard to see it as anything but one-sided (except in an AU context, which I don't do much of). That single story I wrote might have been the culmination of my entire ability to make that pairing work! Except for the ficlet I wrote for Pamala awhile back. ;)
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphors: Alexhalfshellvenus on December 27th, 2008 09:30 am (UTC)
Actually, that ficlet was for deadbeat_nymph, and it's here. :)

i already did! ^_^ but this time, sam turns into a hedge.
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphors: Sam & Dean Genhalfshellvenus on December 27th, 2008 09:25 am (UTC)
Hee! It's almost like a bonus-- first there was the Dean as hedgie story, and then there was Sweet Charity! I think the first was almost an unintentional freebie! :D

I'm always impressed when people can make Linc/Sucre work (they both seem too straight to me), because they're both hot. I wish I could make Michael/Sucre work, but Sucre seems too straight for that and they've got too much 'buddy' chemistry instead of 'whoo!' chemistry for me.

Funny how the things you don't write usually have a reason behind them-- it's generally something that doesn't work in my head (not always because it's not appealing, which you'd think would be the case). :)

I keep thinking about doing that, and even thought about it for Tanya but I knew you were doing it.

I remember how much you liked "To The End of The Story," which was really the only Linc/Vee one I've written, and I really should give that pairing another try, just because. Probably won't be smutty, though. :0

I've always enjoyed your characterization of Lincoln, but also your vision of Lincoln through the other character's eyes. Given that I'm not into the slash, I have of course read much of your gen fic, but yes the blips here and there of Veronica and even Sara in relationship to Lincoln always warm my heart too.

I don't need the smutty to enjoy it. Considering how little L/V fic there is (and that the majority that is out there I wrote myself) I'd take whatever I could get! :D

My Linc/Vee story is slow in coming now. I've been trying to prod the muse on this idea I had but not much has formulated. Hopefully something more will develop!

John and Matt meet up with Dean and Sam. (Ducking and hiding over that one).

OMG, the dreaded crossover menace! I so wish I were better at those, and I'm always impressed when people make them work.

Heck, I just want to finish my longer John/Matt story that was begun back in April. :0

More Tony/Rhodey, please : )

The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphors: IronManhalfshellvenus on December 27th, 2008 09:35 am (UTC)
You're the luckiest one here-- that's something I DO plan to write more of in the near future, though it seems like the fandom interest has really stalled out since the recasting of the second movie. :( I've got a whole trilogy (waiting for another installment) that's barely being read!

Poor, neglected slash pairing. Where is the love? Have people not seen Tony's incredible arms and Rhodey's gorgeous eyes? They were made for each other. Mmmmmm....
peanutgallery79peanutgallery79 on January 5th, 2009 07:34 am (UTC)

OH THANK YOU GOD halfshellvenus! I've been checking ironman_slash and starkindustries almost every night and the last tony/rhodey post on either is still yours! Does that trilogy have a title, btw, other than the titles of the individual parts? 'Cause it's sitting on my hard drive just named 'untitled trilogy.'

I didn't know Marvel had recast the part of Rhodey and I'm extremely sorry to hear that as I was looking forward to the next movie. Not so much now : (

Well I'm glad of the few tony/rhodey stories I've saved, and will be very happy to have more from you. So far I've got four of yours, two written for you, one by samdonne, and a gen vanity fair article, also by samdonne. Oh and one tony/peter parker by basingstoke. Slim pickins. Do you have any recs?

The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphors: IronManhalfshellvenus on January 5th, 2009 07:52 am (UTC)
I wish the Tony/Rhodey scene were not so dead recently! It took me awhile to find ironman_slash and tonyxfic, so I posted up the whole chunk to those comms kind of late.

I'm still trying to think of a name for the series-- tentatively titled "Aligning Chemistry" right now, but I worry that might be too dry. Though there IS a running theme of math/science/experiments in most of the titles, because of my personal geeky love and because that's something Tony and Rhodey share. There will be a fourth, which will run alongside canon and include the little scene where Rhodey drops in after Tony's gotten his prototype heart-magnet from Dummy and Rhodey says, "Next time, baby" to the suit. Probably will continue past the end of the movie. Don't know if there will be a fifth in that series, or if I'll go for another standalone.

happywriter06 below has some recs (Gen, Slash, Het) she posted up lately. I suspect you've already read that incredible samdonne "The Fullest Possible Use" story, as well as the two dancinbutterfly fics that are pre-slash/Gen depending on how you want to take them. Great Rhodey voice in both of those.

A friend of mine wrote a fantastic Steve/Tony story (nice and long, great h/c, great characterization and humor and sexual tension) called "Atonement." It begins on this post, with the phrase below the header and then two more parts after that. Just so you don't skip Part 1 at first the way I did.

Hope you like any of those you haven't seen already, and I hope to get back to Tony/Rhodey soon after finishing off an SPN ficlet. Poor Sam/Dean have been really neglected by me this fall, but the canon is making it hard for me to write them!

"Aligning Chemistry" it is, then, until you change it!

Thanks for the recs! I went and checked out happywriter06's recs and found that I had already read them. Same with dancinbutterfly's fics and samdonne's.

Since I don't follow the comics and only vaguely remember Captain America from really old cartoon serials from when I was teeny, I gave your friend's Steve/Tony story a miss when it first came out, but went back and read it on your rec. Great story! I love your friend's work in general, and Turn of the Wheel in particular, but I still prefer Tony/Rhodey because you know, Terrence Howard and RDJ : )

Alrighty then, I'll just be patient and wait for you next installment. Looks to me like you're pretty much the tony/rhodey fandom!

p.s. - have you seen this yet? It's gen, though.

son of p.s. - forgot to tell you I love your sam/dean stories. I've got a folder of those, too

I finally got that Tony/Rhodey story finished-- the parts that followed canon (and working in that undercurrent of slash, and dealing with Rhodey's off-camera POV for some of it were a real challenge). But here it is, and I hope you like it!

And thanks so much for your wonderful comments about the Sam/Dean stories as well! ♥

John comes back from the dead. And I second that Michael/Sucre thing.

Zombie!John FTW! \o/

Or perhaps that is not what you meant... :0

Why can't I get Sucre to be slashy with Michael? Aside from my Michael/Lincoln OTP thing, it's mainly that I can't see Sucre doing that with a guy in general, but I know it works in other peoples' heads!

Not Zombie but hey, I'll still read it.
