Johari Window Time
Because all the Cool kids are doing it! And because I'd love to know what you think.

I'd love to have as many people on my FriendsList participate as possible.

So, based on what you know about me-- from my Live Journal comments, entries, or (more likely) my stories, please choose attributes for HalfshellVenus' Johari Window

Then we can watch the results and laugh/cringe/rejoice over time.

Update: Thank you, thelana, mooyoo, lissa_bear, ezgal, alazysod, ivy_x3! Any other takers?

New layout!

But errr, I'm bad with these. Because I always ask myself how well can we really know our internet pals when we don't know them in real life.

Lets see:

Organised! (just look at your journal)
Able (at writing good fic)
Observant (just look at your great gen stuff)
Intelligent (comes with the whole writing thing)
Warm (at least I think so)

You are supposed to choose 5 right? You should probably mention that in your post :D

Still deciding about the new layout. It's pretty, but my Fic page needs some work to draw out the sections again (Font messing, all sorts of weird stuff). Plus, as with other people's journals, it appears now that I can't "cut" parts of it with the mouse to paste elsewhere. Not the parts I intend to, anyway :-0 I hate that feature. So... it's still on probation...

You know me as an Internet pal probably better than anyone does, and I'm looking for my "Internet" personality anyway. Although I tell you, people who read on my PB stuff and never my comments are going to think I have NO sense of humor :-0

These are all lovely! You need to select them at the Johari site, though, and then enter your username below. Then it knows you've visited.

It says 5 or 6, and I picked 6 for myself. I'm guessing 4 or fewer just isn't enough data.

Willing to go to the site and highlight & submit? I can't do extra ones because I did my own already. :-D

Done :)

I think it's interesting that in your layout you suddenly can't see anymore how many people have commented on a particular story. Which I'm guessing can be liberating/equalizing, but you know how much I love to check back on stories and read other people's comments.

Thank you! :)

I would quote you above, but I can't! (I've already reported it as a bug-- this is a frustration I've had with other people's journals in this style). I spent several hours on this last night, and I am thisClose to flipping to another style or reverting back. Although I love the colors and the link customizations. Hate the calendar though-- and it's not even accurate!

Not being able to count comments IS kind of annoying, especially if you like to stalk other people's journals as you do mine. Or as I do clex_monkie89's crack_van recList, which I think topped out around 202 entries. (Damn! That's a lot!).

Don't paid accounts have like this feature where you can just give a link to a journal you really like and it will copy the layout for you? Or does that work only for color schemes? I've just read about it and never tried it. But maybe that could be useful.
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphors: Venushalfshellvenus on February 13th, 2006 09:46 pm (UTC)
I'm not sure if it will copy it for you, or provide the codes for you to do it yourself! I was poking around quite a bit last night.

What I need here is 1)Fix the cut-N-paste thing 2)Suppress the calendar just because it's useless and 3)Keep the old comments style.

Just monkeying with the colors was an education-- the handy LJ "pick it" window didn't work for me at all. I had to go to the hexidecimal table and copy over codes-- although you don't get a good feel for how they'll look next to each other. Brings back those Unix memories of messing with my Unix display-- except that the tools for that (on HP-UX) were friendlier! Truly!

Bah, I'm 100% unambitious in those kind of things. You could ask clex_monkie89 for advice though. She did quite a lot of fiddling with the layout at plotbunnies.
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphors: Venushalfshellvenus on February 14th, 2006 07:17 am (UTC)
You've probably noticed my solution by now. BAIL!

I went with a different style, one that (as near as I can tell) maygra uses-- because I tested the "cut" function on her journal and the mouse works there.

I didn't even make it to a fully day with that other style, but then... not being able to quote things is a pretty major bug in my book, considering how I use LJ.

Plus... this style lets me suppress the evil and inaccurate calendar from my main display ;D. So there.
