01) Are you currently in a serious relationship? YES
02) What was your dream growing up? I once had a dream when I was about four years old that I was opening up Pandora's box and all the nasty things were flying out. I know that's not perhaps the dream that you meant, but I don't know if I had a firm "dream" as such. (And obviously I was raised by Classics nerds).
03) What talent do you wish you had? I'd like to be able to fly... or have a better facility for learning languages.
04) If I bought you a drink what would it be? Probably a cocktail I hadn't tried before, that we both picked off the menu because of the stupid name and dared each other to order.
05) Favorite vegetable? Carrots. Boring, I know. Second place: Broccoli.
06) What was the last book you read? Rose Madder by Stephen King. I got it at the second hand store for 2 bucks, as an effort not to buy his new one ($33)
07) What zodiac sign are you? Scorpio. I'm SO mysterious and intense.
08) Any Tattoos and/or Piercings? Explain where. Usual ears and one in the top of the ear on the right side.
09) Worst Habit? Telling people what they want to hear
10) If you saw me walking down the street would you offer me a ride? Of course.
11) What is your favorite sport? Ooooooh. Challenging. Cricket, probably, it's just so exciting. I mean that sincerely. FIVE DAYS OF PLAY ending in a draw. WOOT! For me - swimming or climbing.
12) Do you have a Pessimistic or Optimistic attitude? I think mainly optimistic with periods of wintry pessimism.
13) What would you do if you were stuck in an elevator with me? Sit on the floor and chat about llife
14) Worst thing to ever happen to you? Ha! As if I'd answer that one. Also I believe that everything happens for a reason, so there's no WORST per se. Once I had a ruptured ovary, that hurt the worst physically.
15) Tell me one weird fact about you. I have extremely sharp hearing in high registers. I can hear some high pitched noises people aren't supposed to be able to.
16) Do you have any pets? My cat, Zizou, who is so awesome and you've heard all about him.
17) What if I showed up at your house unexpectedly? I'd be embarrassed by the mess and whisk you out to the park for a picnic instead.
18) What was your first impression of me? Slightly intimidating because you're very capable at a LOT of things. But friendly despite it. Which is nice.
19) Do you think clowns are cute or scary? Kinda scary AND cute. Which is the worst kind of scary in my mind.
20) If you could change one thing about how you look, what would it be? I have kind of awkward Yorkshire-girl ankles. I'd like racehorse legs like my sister.
21) Would you be my crime partner or my conscience? BOTH. I'd help and nag at the same time.
22) What color eyes do you have? Very blue.
23) Ever been arrested? No, sadly.
24) Bottle or can soda? It tastes nicer in the glass bottles.
25) If you won $10,000 today, what would you do with it? Visit my sister in London.
27) What's your favorite place to hang out at? The beach. And the theatre.
28) Do you believe in ghosts? I'd like to, I've never seen one though and logically I DOUBT. I'd be pleased if I saw one though.
29) Favorite thing to do in your spare time? Read. Write. Play music.
30) Do you swear a lot? Yes, more than I should.
31) Biggest pet peeve? People who are mean because they are smart. I believe the greatest sign of intelligence is being kind with it, not dismissive.
32) In one word, how would you describe yourself? Thoughtful.
33) Do you believe/appreciate romance? Yeah, sure. I also appreciate the romantic gesture of coming home to all the dishes having been done, though.
34) Favourite and least favourite food? Oysters. and least favourite? Macdonalds cheeseburgers.
35) Do you believe in God? I think so. In an agnostic kind of way. I believe more than I don't believe, but then I'm very firmly against the use of God to oppress others, whether it's kids or races or countries.
36) Will you repost this so I can fill it out and do the same for you? Not now... because I'm off to the dentist. GAH. Maybe later. I'm not sure!

I didn't have any "dreams of my future as an XYZ" when I was a child either, not really. I always kind of envied those who knew (or thought they knew) what they wanted to do!

I have extremely sharp hearing in high registers. I can hear some high pitched noises people aren't supposed to be able to.
I have acute high-range hearing as well, though I don't know that I'm hearing the "unhearable." I'm just hearing things that other people either can't, or that do not grate on them as they do me!!!

I had the same problem with the "sports" question as you-- I answered for both what I like to watch and what I like to do. Both are important, in my book. :)

32) In one word, how would you describe yourself? Thoughtful.
I almost put that for me, but I don't always consistently live up to the "thinking about others as much as I should," so I went with "Reflective" instead (which is the other meaning).

My "last book" turns over really frequently, so it's rarely anything momentous or even, erm, adult. The last one I finished was juvenile fiction about a classroom hamster. I'm reading 3 others right now, two of them for grownups. :0

Thanks for playing!

04) If I bought you a drink what would it be? Amaretto sour
05) Favorite vegetable? carrot
06) What was the last book you read? Torchwood: Something in the Water
07) What zodiac sign are you? Cancer
08) Any Tattoos and/or Piercings? Explain where. Regular earrings.
09) Worst Habit? procrastination
10) If you saw me walking down the street would you offer me a ride? I might now, because I'm getting better at "reading" people and would know if you're a serial killer or not **grin**
11) What is your favorite sport? Hockey
12) Do you have a Pessimistic or Optimistic attitude? I was highly pessimistic, but I'm getting better toward optimistic
13) What would you do if you were stuck in an elevator with me? start talking about whatever - hopefully leading to a fannish connection of some kind.
14) Worst thing to ever happen to you? When I was in the fifth grade, the entire class ignored me for the whole year. (hence, me not wanting to go to any reunions with those people.
15) Tell me one weird fact about you.
16) Do you have any pets? One cat
17) What if I showed up at your house unexpectedly? Um...right now, you'd have to go through an obstacle course to get inside, as I'm renovating again and have 10' paneling everywhere. I'd give you a tour of the Fan Room, then we'd probably start talking/babbling about fandom.
18) What was your first impression of me?
19) Do you think clowns are cute or scary? Clowns never freaked me out, so I'll say cute.
20) If you could change one thing about how you look, what would it be? Have my hair any other color than what it is.
21) Would you be my crime partner or my conscience? Hm...it would depend on the crime...more than likely a partner.
22) What color eyes do you have? Hazel
23) Ever been arrested? nope
24) Bottle or can soda? either
25) If you won $10,000 today, what would you do with it? Sadly, pay off two credit cards and open a savings account with the remainder, which wouldn't be much.
27) What's your favorite place to hang out at? A bookstore....art museum...if I could, it'd be the British Museum. I could spend weeks there.
28) Do you believe in ghosts? No, but my sis really does and honestly wants to talk to our dad again.
29) Favorite thing to do in your spare time? It's going to sound weird, but organize. Doesn't matter what, if it's a drawer, a closet, the CD collection, a file folder, I have this thing that I want stuff in an exact order. My DVDs are arranged by TV, movie or music/musical, then alphabetical OR by actor (Atlantis has the David's stuff next to it).
30) Do you swear a lot? Not any more.
31) Biggest pet peeve? Physical would be drivers doing the speed limit in the next-to-fast lane. Dude, get OUT OF MY WAY. Written would be "lose/loose". I can't even look at the correct usage of "loose" without shuddering.
32) In one word, how would you describe yourself? Szchizophrenic - in a good way *g*
33) Do you believe/appreciate romance? Not really
34) Favourite and least favourite food? Hate hate hate mushrooms. Love Ted Drewes Frozen Custard banana splits. A St. Louis tradition.
35) Do you believe in God? I'm in a weird place right now. I don't know that I ever did, yet I have this desperate fear/plea that there's something out there, than Existence isn't a random act.
36) Will you repost this so I can fill it out and do the same for you? Surely.

02) What was your dream growing up? Seeing my name on a CEO's door.
Wow. You were one of those people who had actual plans, or vision or something as a child. I was a "whim of the moment" kind of kid, which made junior year of high school kind of intimidating. :0

Wow, your fifth grade experience sounds terrible. :( I had clinical depression in the 3rd grade, but my husband's problems in the last couple of years outweigh that now.

You forgot your strange, personal, trueFacttm! And #18, too!

I also have the regular piercings (one in each ear, usual place), and went for either on the soda issue. Maybe because it's been a LONG time since I even had soda in a glass bottle (Strawberry Crush-- MMMmmmmm! Many decades ago).

I also didn't know you had a cat-- which brings out all sorts of thinky thoughts about how much he/she is enjoying the renovation projects!

re: 02) um...not so much a vision of a plan. Literally, I saw my initials and last name on a big-wig door. That's it. Nice shiny plaque with my name on it. The earliest thing I can remember wanting to do/be was make music videos. Ahhh, I loved the 80s *g*

re: fifth grade -- I've had chronic clinical depression since then, in addition to general anxiety and social anxiety. Geeeeee, wonder why? :P I am getting better, though. My newest drug cocktail has finally shut up the internal negative voice.

15) Tell me one weird fact about you. What, the need to organize my junk wasn't weird enough?? I have -- not what I'd call ESP, but when something's wrong with one of my immediate family, I can sense something's wrong. If I haven't slept for days, I'll find out my sis has been out drinking (or working late) until 3 or 4am. Or the phone will ring and I don't want to pick it up, because of some odd feeling I get. Once, it was my grandpa calling to tell me grandma fell up a small step and broke her forearm, and they were at the hospital. Twice I've been on the phone with my mom when a family member has been in the hospital -- bad things ensue. The first time, I was debating with myself whether to sign the lease on my first apartment. I had gone to the hospital the night before and told my grandma I finally found a place. She was on a ventilator but could understand everything perfectly; she just couldn't talk. Mom and I were talking about the lease, and she was paged, so she said she'd call me back because it might be the hospital. When I hung up the phone, I knew, just knew, grandma was gone. Mom called back a minute later barely able to speak. The second time, dad's mom was in the hospital. She'd been doing better/worse, but the doctor thought she may be strong enough to go home within the week. On the phone with mom and she gets another call. When she calls me back, I answered with, "She's gone, isn't she?" Then there's my sister's backaches when she was pregnant that I got, plus her upset stomach and odd food cravings. This extends to at least one friend of mine, alixsinclair. When we're at a con together, the celebs want to talk to us. It's like a psychic aura drawing people to us or something. I've also found myself having anxiety attacks for no reason, and find out later than my friend was having them, too. So, apparently, I'm a bit too sensitive.

18) What was your first impression of me? Now, see, this one was weird for me because it was right after the house question, so I thought it was asking what I thought of you standing outside my door! Online, I was exuberant/ecstatic that I'd found someone who thought of Dean Winchester the same way I did, and wrote such incredibly believable, well-written and evocative stories. I remember being envious of you because I haven't been able to write like that since...my Highlander fandom days, when I was the most depressed and the most prolific. It's about time for me to reread my "comments" folder, in which I place all the feedback I've received on all my writing since 1996. Yes, it's been transferred from computer to computer, added to as I've written new stories and gotten new feedback.

And now that I've watched the political debate, I'm getting a headache and have much to do tomorrow, so I'm off to bed.
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphorshalfshellvenus on September 27th, 2008 07:12 am (UTC)
I used to organize more when I had less stuff. Since having 2 kids and moving into a larger house, there's way more stuff than I'd like (god, the paperwork alone). But some of that is because my parents are packrats, who move the same junk from house-to-house (my Dad used to also have a moving-every-few-years problem). Knowing that my Dad refuses to get rid of paperback books he's never read and that he's had for at least 35 years... gah! Makes me want to purge through my library and donate stuff immediately.

And now that I've watched the political debate, I'm getting a headache and have much to do tomorrow, so I'm off to bed.
We watched it (my daughter's idea, though she and Christopher yacked through a lot of it). I was very pleased with how Obama came off, and that he was able to turn McCain's crack about "The most liberal voting record in the Senate" into "Most of the votes to which Senator McCain refers were in opposition to the wrong-headed policies of George Bush." \o/
Kronette: SPN-Dean makes Sammy crazykronette on September 29th, 2008 01:54 am (UTC)
Knowing that my Dad refuses to get rid of paperback books he's never read and that he's had for at least 35 years... gah! Makes me want to purge through my library and donate stuff immediately.

My mom has one of those old barrels (about 3' with a steel lid) full of her clothes from the '60. She moved it from her parents' basement when they died to her basement. *sigh* The barrel kept mold and mildew out, but the clothes are still musty and just....ew.

I found a fantastic book by Karen Kingston, "Clear Your Clutter with Feng Shui." She gives the reasons why we keep things, why we collect things, and how we can learn to let go of things. I started my big purge when I was going to move from my first apartment, but didn't find this book until I was already in my second place. She talks about inherited clutteritis, and how we can retroactively "help" our ancestors by purging our stuff today. She also talks about "mental clutter" and unfinished things/projects as clutter. I have a ton of both of those that I'm slowly working on fixing.

The one thing I didn't like about Obama was the constant talking over McCain, which to me, made him come off extremely rude. If I didn't know about McCain's policies, I would have said he did slightly better, but the petulant "naivete" comments began to grate on my nerves. And is it just me, or does McCain look like the walking dead with the incredibly pale face/makeup and the dark, deep inset beady eyes? *evil grin*

Awwww. :( I disagree! And how does "funny" not come to mind? Though I guess a person's humor is less entertaining to them than it is to other people, who after all really reap the benefit of it. ;)

You hate seafood? Really? I am very big on lobster and scallops, though I have a passive-aggressive relationship with crab and fish (other than salmon and trout) are iffy. :0

I keep meaning to get to this one-- I've heard great things about it!

For #14, I'm really sorry to hear that. I have a wonderful niece with CF, and we've had some episodes of panic-level fear, but not since her liver transplant years ago.

I love "The Raven," so I can see its appeal even to a 9-year-old!

30) Do you swear a lot? Yes, though I've been trying to cut back.
I never swore a lot, but having kids really cut WAY into what little there was. I don't want to be one of those people dropping the s-bomb and the f-bomb where little ears can hear. :0

19) Do you think clowns are cute or scary? Depends on the clown.
I'm trying really hard to imagine a clown that I would find cute. :0

Kimberley: autumn crocuslampshade_days on September 27th, 2008 02:58 pm (UTC)
It is a really wonderful book, though devastating.

I guess "a lot" is subjective. Once, when I was a student teacher in a fifth grade class, I said something was "pretty darn close" to something else when teaching a math lesson, and my associate teacher told me I couldn't use the word "darn". I definitely make an effort to not use curse words around Abi, if only in hopes that she will develop a higher level of vocabulary and more creative way of using her words. That said, I do believe that those words (when not used in an attack against someone else) are a normal, healthy part of language, and something she'll hear as she moves along in life, regardless of her age.

I'm trying really hard to imagine a clown that I would find cute. :0

Re: For You...
16) Do you have any pets? No; I want a cat though
You should! Cats make a house a home, in my book. Plus, there's that wonderful purring and soft fur.

19) Do you think clowns are cute or scary? SCARY...thanks a lot Kripke LOL
I think their scariness pre-dates Kripke. John Wayne Gacy comes to mind. Really, though, they're just creepy-looking in general. This of it this way: the Joker is 80% clown. :0

You've been arrrested? Details! If you're comfortable with that.

:D I put "Hypcrisy" for mine. I have a lot of pet peeves, which could fill a whole rambling blog, but some are more important than others.

The "tear here" perforations that don't tear, people who park just over the line so that no-one can use the space next to them, tags in clothing... those are among the many others. :0
