The All-Knowing F-List...
Let's start with Guitar Hero, since I know some of you play (and better than I do).

On Version II, I can hold the fret down sometimes for multiple notes (especially the ones that fly by!), but I haven't figured out how many. 3-4 if they're every beat and half-beat? Just 3?

On Version III, can I do that at all? I notice that if I hit the note slightly late, V3 will still count it (which V2 does not). But the multiple-note/single-stroke behavior seems a little different. True?

Randomly, though there are great songs like "Sunshine Of Your Love" and "Evenflow" and "Paint It Black" on V3, what is with the evil stuff like Rage Against the Machine and some of the more boring songs? And where's the Jimmy Page? It's sacrilege! Also, I hate the "battle" feature on V3-- I just want to go on to the next group of songs, darnit!

Now for my other dilemna... wallpaper secrets. Specifically (Hi, Witchy!), if I have a main pattern and a border, and I just want to change the border, what's the best way to do that? I know I could just put new border over the old one, but is that a good idea? If I try to remove the old one, will it take the main pattern underneath it along for the ride? Because that would be bad. :0

Thanks to Guitar Hero (Which I don't play too well, but I do try) my daughter has discovered the wonders of Aerosmith and GunsNRoses...finally, a video game teaching something worthwhile LOL....

My son likes virtually all kinds of music except Pop (he even likes Country and Rap, which I can't tolerate). But he loves the more hard rock stuff to begin with (and has complained often about the lack of Led Zeppelin in Guitar Hero).

Still, he's heard new things-- including "Crazy On You" (a female singer he can tolerate!) and "Carry On, My Wayward Son" that he really likes.

And it was funny to listen to him while I was working through "Cherry Pie" one day: "This song has no point. It doesn't go anywhere." And he's absolutely right-- I have no idea why it's on GH2. Musically speaking, it's a pretty boring song.

My son will listen to anything like me, if I put on 60s he's happy, if I put on Bob Dylan, The Temptations, The Beatles, all is well. Beth is pickier, more into Top 40 stuff, but she is listening to some underground pseudo-punk now, which makes me happy. And the rap stuff, yeah they listen to that also which makes me crazy, and now I know how Mom felt when I blasted Zep on the stereo.

Lauren likes almost exclusively Pop (and I mean "pop"-- she kind of hates the Beatles), and little else. Yark-- screaming emo-girls with nasal voices!

I can't take her music at all, except the retro stuff like ABBA from my own childhood.

Rap fusion I kind of like (Beck's "Odelay," for instance), but pure Rap bores me senseless. Neither child is old enough to get their hands on that yet, thank goodness.

My dad says you should lightly score the old border and try to use water to see if it'll come off without taking the main one with it. He says if that doesn't work, it's likely that removing the old border will, indeed, remove the main wallpaper with it. He's an artist, so I'm pretty sure he knows what he's talking about. :] Hope that helps!

It does help-- I'll try the scoring/removal in an isolated section and if that doesn't work we'll put the new border over the old one (I know that'll work, but doesn't really improve things down the road).

We have a pink-striped paper below, which is fine with my daughter, but the Happy Bunny Family border bothers her now that she's nearly 11. ;)

LOL, I see. :D Good luck, hope it works out! :]

Yikes, I can't help you with the Guitar Hero stuff. I hit the fret for each note in GH3. For the fast parts, I just strum it up and down.

Haha as for the wallpaper, evidence of the Internet eating my brain: I totally thought you meant on the computer, or in GH. I didn't realize you mean REAL, physical WALLPAPER until noticing it in your comments :O D'oh!

That definitely doesn't work for me on GH2, because it's so picky about hitting the fret at the precise moment that you wind up missing most of the notes with that technique. GH3 is more forgiving about timing (a little), so maybe I should try that!

:D I didn't even think of the other option-- Computer wallpaper is peanuts compared to the physical kind. And no scary paste, either. :0

Didja see the post before this one for thelana's birthday? New icon. It was serendipitious! :D :D

The Badtz Maru one? What about it? :0

Are you kidding? Do you know what the chances of finding Badtz Maru with cake to use as a birthday icon are? He's not a cake-friendly penguin. \o/

Now if only I could find a use for the picture where he's hanging out below a clothesline, with his points pinned up to dry. ;)
