Pimpage!
You've probably already heard about the SPN kamikazeremix challenge, which is up for grabs, but if not then go take a peek!

I'm planning to take the plunge, even though there is NO guarantee of what you'll get assigned to write and you cannot refuse pairings (I'd turn down any Het OFC story if I could).

You get to choose which story of your own you want remixed, which is hard for me. I love my stories too much! Or something. Or maybe I fear someone doing either a crappy job or a way-better-than-me job on the remix. Yes, I am that pathetic. :(

But I'm debating right now between either the Gen Impasse story or the Wincest If I Would You When, because they're not fluff or PWP and because I don't think it would kill me to have them remixed. In fact, I'd be interested to see what a different take on them would bring!

Thoughts? Jeers?

Ahhhhh, I am so tempted. This sounds like the perfect way to get through my non-writing slump.

I hope you don't get the story that I would offer. It's not exactly fan-friendly, but I'm just stuck on it and would love to see another person expand on it.

It's not that Dean/Jo anal-sex thing, is it? That's major squickage for me, on both counts!

Are there any that are not Dean/Jo? And you know, you could always write a new one just for the challenge. ;)

No, not the Dean/Jo anal one (that is so weird to write), but it is a Jo one. I think it's even more brutal too. Honestly, my Jo stuff is some of the favorite that I've written.

However, if I'm feeling generous, I might go with the five times Dean cockblocked Sam one.

Ha, I need this challenge in order to get my SPNTA muses back. I haven't even been in the mood to read SPNTA fic in months. It's very sad. :(

Aww... :(

I'm stuck right now with the feeling of wanting any one of the many fics I've started to just finish. At least the Ruby one is done. But the various SPNs and DieHards and at least one PB thing I've been sitting on for over a year? Not so much. *kicks them all*

I think they'd both be intriguing to remix, but I think I'd lean toward If I Would You When because it seems to me it has more room in it to be explored.

It does to me too-- it's not canon-based, so there's more opportunity to stretch before/after, and the ending leaves the possibility of Sam's longing being entirely one-sided, or reciprocated by Dean (but in a non-faithful way). So a remix could even go Gen with it.

Oh man, this sounds awesome. I'm tempted to sign up just so I can force someone to remix 'Gut Feeling'. *cackles*

I know what you're thinking: Back away from the comm... Slowly, slowly... A little farther... There. *cuffs, blindfolds and gags* Am I right?
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphorshalfshellvenus on July 18th, 2008 05:37 pm (UTC)
That's exactly what I'm thinking!

The phrase "Force someone to remix" does not bode well.

Reminds me of the PB Fic Exchanges where some of the prompts are just crack, and I always "Grrrr..." a little over those.

:0 ;)
Deadbeat Nymph: dean nosedeadbeat_nymph on July 18th, 2008 06:23 pm (UTC)
The thing is, I feel that 'Gut Feeling' is actually a sweet story, more affectionate and schmoopy than anything else. But the kink, oh... Although, I could totally see someone remixing it as a gen hurt/comfort piece, or choosing Dean/pie as the central pairing while ignoring the Wincest, or something else entirely. And that's really why I'd like to have it remixed; what would someone do with it? What?

What do you think about 'Welcome to the Dollhouse', though? Do you think that could be a decent candidate for remixture? Hm.

So, you gonna do it?

They're both kind of crack-y to me, and working with someone else's crack can be really hard (again, some of the PBFE prompts come to mind). And genderswap always feels AU to me, even though some people are nuts for it.

I.e., I'd fear getting either one of them! But I'm a big chicken anyway, as you know. ;)

I did sign up for it. *is already nervous*

See, I don't think of my genderswap as AU because it fits in with canon: They are precisely who they are, and the Monster of the Week just happens to be Sam, his victim Dean. LOL.

:( I think I still struggle with understanding the definition of crack in fanfic, but I'm trying not to take it as an insult. ;) In any case, that's what I get for my crappiness as a writer. I have ideas, and then they slide away... So far, two perfectly good ideas that could have turned into fairly extensive, more serious pieces, have gone gone gone. *cries*

I did sign up for it. *is already nervous*

*is nervous for you* *is also excited to see what you get and how you tackle it*

I don't think most people regard it as AU (it's all over fanfic), but I personally find it hard to work with. Never even been tempted, and I've even written the mpreg (which should theoretically always be crack, but in this fandom... hard to be sure, since it could actually happen).

Yes, please-- not meant to be insulting at all!

Crack seems to be a personal definition, because for me it's often "extreme characterization pushed beyond reality, but still funny" which others might just think of as 'extreme humor.' Whereas what other people think of as true 'crack' is often what I think of as 'frothing and flailing and not actually funny.'

Dean loving pie is humor to me. Dean loving pie a little too much, in an unnerving way is crack. Dean having a discussion with the author about why it's always the pie... possibly not funny, depends on the execution (if the author enters into the story, it's always crack but I often don't find it funny).

That Kellerman story I wrote, "A Profile of Seduction," fits the definition of crack to me, but I know missyjack just finds it extreme humor. I think "SONA, Arma, Muerto, Loco" is crack by anyone's definition, but then again...

I have ideas, and then they slide away...
This is not crappiness as a writer, which you don't suffer from in any case (so don't worry!!!). This is... ARGH. Something that happens to most of us regularly, and we would tie those suckers down and make them spill their guts until we're done with them if we could.

Instead of "Ladida-exposition-la" and then "Dear John..."
