Prison Break Slash Fiction: Strange Bedfellows (PG-13)
Title: Strange Bedfellows
Author: HalfshellVenus
Characters: Michael/Lincoln, Abruzzi (Slash)
Rating: PG-13
Summary: (Season One) Abruzzi's always watching.
Author's Notes: For lissa_bear, who wanted some Michael/Lincoln for her birthday with a side of Abruzzi. I can't believe the Abruzzi part made it in!
Also for my fanfic100 challenge, this is "teammates."
This story could be considered an interlude in "The Arrangement" series, or a standalone.

He watches a little too closely, like there's something about them he knows.

When Lincoln's hand stays too long on Michael's waist, when Michael murmurs in Lincoln's ear, Abruzzi is there. They can't shake him off.

Working in the break room, they hope for even a few seconds alone to trade kisses—or a touch, just anything—before their audience returns. It hardly ever happens.

Abruzzi is there. Up close or at a distance doesn't matter when the man sees everything, even things other people wouldn't dream of, wouldn't believe. A man in his position is surprised by nothing, especially the second time around.

The break crew files into the yard again on a Monday, joined by Lincoln as they approach the shed. He and Michael have spent two days with only the sight of each other to sustain them; it's never enough.

"I want to taste you," Lincoln whispers deep so that only Michael can hear.

Abruzzi turns his head anyway, slows his step for a moment that stretches out long enough for Michael to feel their plan unraveling into the dirt. Abruzzi begins moving again at roughly the same fraction of a second in which Michael's heart stops beating.

Lincoln continues forward into the shed, all gruff determination. When Michael enters, he pulls him back into a corner and says softly, "I want him off the team, Michael. He's dangerous—especially to us."

"I know," Michael answers just as quietly, "but we need him. We need that plane to escape. There's no other way."

Lincoln scowls and heads over to the equipment, grabbing a shovel. He'll take some of that aggravation out on the floor while he imagines it's Abruzzi's head.

Strange bedfellows…

Michael's not thinking of what he does with Lincoln in their rare moments of privacy. Circumstances have forced him to make alliances he'd rather not. So long as he can keep Abruzzi along for the ride, he'll do what he has to.

But Lincoln's right.

Michael just hopes they make it out of here before Abruzzi uncovers the secret the two of them are working so hard to hide.

OMG, ypu did Abruzzi!
He's such a challenge for me, but Elissa wanted him in combination with M/L, and this idea really seemed like something I could work with.

Especially remembering how much she loved Abruzzi.

Still a tough character even to imply, but he felt pretty solid to me here. Always a threat, even when he doesn't speak. ;)

Threatening Abruzzi looming all around them... ;)

Always a threat, even when he doesn't speak. ;)
Possibly even more so when he doesn't speak: you can imagine anything, and especially the worse, which is exactly what the ficlet achieves.
I like how the two of them become slightly paranoid: they have every reason to ^_^

Once you know about the toes, which Michael never even saw coming... *shudders*

No kidding. From Michael's perspective, until that plane touches down, lets them off, and it flies away with neither of them dead... they'll have to worry about him every minute of the way. :0

You got Abruzzi in there!

Abruzzi turns his head anyway, slows his step for a moment that stretches out long enough for Michael to feel their plan unraveling into the dirt.

I can practically see that, his every move deliberate.

This is fantastic! It makes me miss this fandom, back when it was good.

Thank you!

You got Abruzzi in there!
It's a miracle! \o/

I can practically see that, his every move deliberate.
Guaranteed to put Michael and Lincoln on edge-- all he'd have to hear is the "wrss-wrss" sound of whispering and he'd know they were up to something that he could make them nervous over. :0

It makes me miss this fandom, back when it was good.
I miss it too-- when the show was good, the writers were good AND not all about the M/S... *sniffle* Good times. :D

Happy Birthday!

:D You're welcome! He's hard to write, which is why we don't see much of him.

But he works very well here... because the man is trouble waiting to happen. ;)

Abruzzi casting a long, malevolent shadow over my favourite brothers when all they want is each other!!
And with so little opportunity for them to begin with!

*sighs* I still miss Season 1.
I do too-- all the rich characters, the intensity in the brother relationship, the feeling of focus. Good times. :)
