I've got this Flintstone's song in my head...
It's HalfshellHusband's and my 19th wedding anniversary today. Where does the time go? Sometimes it seems like we just met...

Hope I'll be awake enough to enjoy some low-key celebration later. It's a bad sign when your first thought on waking up is, "What's that noise?" That would be the alarm clock. :0

*

Last night's Bones: just, No. Bad idea, badly executed. Crap writing, seriously - I didn't buy that storyline for a second. :(

Last night's House, M.D.: *sigh* Wilson was right the first time when he said Cuddy's plan was cruel. Should have stuck with that. :( And you know, when you take away all the flashy techniques of storytelling used in this 2-part finale, what you have underneath is a story that I still don't fully believe in because the Wilson/Amber thing was not established well-enough to sell it. They kept bringing it up, but what they showed of it lacked the depth to really make that finale plausible. Is this our legacy from the Writers' Strike this season, a bunch of finales that don't entirely work because there wasn't enough story build with those missing episodes? Though honestly, nothing could rescue that plotline from Bones.

Tonight is the Reaper finale, and I'm going to miss that show over the summer (though I'm glad it's coming back next year). Oh Sock, oh Devil - why must you be so funny?

Happy anniversary! I hope you have a lovely celebration. :)

Thank you! Wish we could celebrate the way we used to, by running off to a B&B for the Memorial Day weekend, but kids kind of put a damper on that. Still, there will be chocolate and perhaps some wine. :)

Happy anniversary!! <3<3

I will miss Reaper, too. It's the only other (primetime) show I regularly watch. I had a friend in high school who was, essentially, Sock. Good times.

Thank you, Barb!

Did you want to kill him half the time and laugh yourself sick with him the other half?

Sock's attitude toward women appalls me (mostly it's the dumb things that fall out of his mouth), but there seems to be some vulnerability under all that as well (not to mention the hilarious!)- like his remorse over Gladys, or his inability to deliver the hard line to Tony and Steve.

Just the fact that he'd duct-tape his own hand as a form of amusement is so dumb and yet so perfect. "Tape hand!" :D

Amazing, isn't it? This last year has been rough for HSH, but we've been very lucky over all. The biggest piece of luck was simply meeting each other. :D

I couldn't agree more about the Bones finale. I would have bought it if they had made Hodgins the apprentice. But Zach? No way, no how. Doesn't matter how many eps they used to set it up, they have spent the entire series showing us that Zach was this person, they can't just suddenly tell us that he's really that person. I'm not really upset about it, because Zach was probably the character I'm least invested in, so his leaving doesn't really affect me at all. I would have been really upset if it HAD been Hodgins, though, so I'm glad it wasn't. (Even if it would have been more believable.) Overall I think the writers needed to get rid of Zach (I've seen people say that the actor wanted to leave the show???) and this helped tie up the Gormagon (sp?) plot as well. But seriously...it was so sloppy.

And HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!

That was my feeling- really, about ANYONE except for Sweets. That writing decision invalidates all of the prior canon, which is exactly the kind of thing that hacks me off (so many fanfic writers go to great efforts to make things seem 'canon-esque,' and then a show's own writers throw up their hands? When all they need to do is try harder?)

There are better ways for a character to leave the show, and the main thing is that the audience had to believesthat the character would do whatever it is they're doing AND that it's still the same character. :0

For a character to become everything he hates and has worked against because of "the compelling logic" that it took another character 30 seconds to blow holes in is not one of the methods that works. *kicks producers in their lazy butts*

But of the good, thanks for the anniversary wishes! :D

Happy Anniversary! I know what you mean. Sometimes it feels like you've just met, others like you've known them forever.

Congrats and enjoy, lady!

And it's true- both the those feelings of the time flying by, and also that this person has been part of you forever. All the "you" that really matters, anyway. :)

Yes. Just, yes.

Seriously. I think a bunch of random people who've never even watched the show could have come up with a better ending than that one. *sighs*

Re: House & Cuddy's plan. I don't know. My husband and I were discussing it, and we both agreed that we would want to be woken up so we could say a proper good-bye. That's such an important thing, I think, saying good-bye, but I guess it's just a matter of personal opinion. (I also thought that the acting more than made up for whatever was lacking in the writing along the way, but I will readily admit that I am easily impressed when it comes to TV shows.)

We came to the opposite conclusion, because in Amber's case she didn't know what was happening to her, and would have slipped peacefully away without the emotional agony of being woken up and given a death sentence. It seemed a selfish thing to do, and Wilson doesn't tend to be selfish. But it IS a matter of opinion!

I love that icon-- that was one of my favorite moments in the show (Wilson turning House's own kind of sense of humor against him. Mwah-ha-ha-ha!)

I agree with you on Bones. WTF? And House was....well, his character hasn't grown in two seasons, so yeah...wasn't expecting much.

Oohhh, Reaper! I've missed too many eps -- I'm going to get 'em and catch up so I can write the Reaper/SPN crossover I've got in my head. OMG, Sock and Dean out loose. Sam and Sam can talk about, well, stuff. And yeah. The Devil. HAHA.

Oh, my husband is SO dying for there to be more crossovers. I've read one that was pretty good (I recc'd it a few weeks ago), but there aren't as many as you'd think! And it's such a wonderfully hilarious show, plus I think Sock and Dean would definitely have things in common (plus, Dean could be all smug about Sock being so poorly behaved around others- never seeing that that is also true of himself, a lot of the time).

I've torrent-downloaded most of the Reaper episodes because I kept missing them early on in the season when they were on opposite House. If "House" was new, there was a 50% chance I would totally forget to tape Reaper- and then flail about it immediately afterward. :D

I was thinking of the Flintstone's episode with "Happy Anniversary, Happy AnniVERsary, Happy Anniversary, HAAAAPpy AnniverSAry" with Fred's friends singing by the piano as the piano kept coming and going.

Because songs get stuck in my head far too easily, even ones from TV that I haven't seen for over 30 years!

I hope it's cooled off there! We had two days at over 100 degrees, but it's settled back down now!

Thanks for the anniversary wishes. :)

We're having pretty much the same weather as you are. In the summer time, we track within about 3 degrees of Medford here in Sacramento. In the winter, you have it much colder than we do.

So, today was supposed to be in the low 80s, and maybe it was (felt hotter-- kind of muggy). Should be in the low 80s for several days to come, which is a huge improvement. It's too early for 100 degrees!

um, totally agree on Bones.... why did it have to be zack? i didn't much like him at first, but ended up loving him (until last night), though in some ways his too-logical approach was a bit off-putting at times. but he alwasys seemed so sweet and naive.

that being said, and despite his ability to rationalize eating human flesh. i do not see how zack could possibly rationalize MURDER. he works in a law-enforcement capacity, trying to catch killers, and he's been working on that case all year along with everyone else. so the idea that he could possibly be pursuaded tht easily to not only break the law but to work with someone that he was hunting for as part of his job required A LOT more backup than they gave us in this ep. that is what really ticked me off about it. i can't believe the reasons they gave us were enough. esp because we see how important his work with brennan was, that he kept her letter all those years. i can't believe he would risk something that important for someone he practucally just met and KNEW all along was a wanted killer.

up until then, of course i knew it wasn't hodgins... and that booth wasn't dead... none of those were hard to believe, but making cute little zack a cannibal murderer was beyond plot-twist.... but up till then, it was an excellent episode. and i will miss him next season...

now i need to go watch back eps to see if there were any telltale hints about wacky-zack behavior that might made this all easier to swallow....

i don't necessarily agree about House. i do think they didn't convince me that wilson and amber were the real thing until last night... i like to believe a lot of time passed between previous eps and last night, and they really ended up having something good going... but i'm mad that they made me waste a few tears on amber. until last night i didn't see one redeeming shred for her, but then she got nice and almost interesting... just like bela, who i began to take interest in at 11.58 on the night she's supposed to go to hell.

writers' strike really messed everything up!!! let's hope the actors' come to an agreement before their contract ends...

Word- if you summarize with the obvious, it's "A cannibalistic serial-killer I talked to at a conference persuaded me to help him kill people and make him special teeth so he could eat human flesh." HOW does any sane person fall for that, let alone Zack? It's just not believable. :(

now i need to go watch back eps to see if there were any telltale hints about wacky-zack behavior that might made this all easier to swallow....
Doubtful, I think, which is why this really didn't work well. They should have picked someone else (someone new and not well-known) to be their inside person, and had Zack's exit be for other reasons.

until last night i didn't see one redeeming shred for her, but then she got nice and almost interesting...
Some of what made her interesting, though, were House's fantasies, so some of it wasn't even her! And it's hard for me to forget that she really WAS cutthroat and kind of heartless earlier in the season. We needed more foundation there, as in "her work persona is less of her RL persona," or "Wilson brought out the softer side of her," or something similar. Which didn't happen! Argh. :(
