How Dean survived, they do not know.

Gashed and gone, Limbo-lost, some thread of salvation—of Sam—pulled him back. Healing hands did the rest.

The ocean flows and crashes outside, soothing, eternal. Nothing has come, afraid of Sam or the salt-lines he laid.

"Can you fix those ribs I cracked last year?"

"Probably not," Sam murmurs, "But I'll make you forget them." His kiss is a promise.

"Could stay here forever," Dean finally breathes.

"That means a week," Sam smiles, "before you're stir crazy."

"Trouble can wait."

Dean pulls him closer, unhurried and content.

Everything he wants is here…

That is such a comforting, soothing and relaxing line. Like he's finally safe.
That was definitely the feeling I wanted to create with those words. It's over, he's safe, and he and Sam are together.

In the end, everything's all right (and I hope Kripke finds that space for us all in the coming year).
