So, does anyone else ever...
...keep people on their f-list after they've disappeared, just in case they return? I still have stele3 on mine, and keep my fingers crossed that she'll change her mind. Today, though, I tried to Google missing bluesister, who took down her journal and disappeared over the summer. No luck there, and I finally admitted defeat and took her off my f-list just now. I still miss her, though, and wonder why she left. :(

New Office Road Hazard: Turkeys in the parking lot bothering each other. Yeesh, but they're big. They live onsite now, but their last parking lot appearance was over a year ago just days before Thanksgiving. May I say, that seemed... unwise at the time.

Catfights and flying fur: So much funnier in the abstract than the reality. And no, I'm not talking about SPN fandom (thought it's gotten cranky lately). No, I mean our actual little beasts, whose Cold War continues some 3 1/2 years later. They can usually be on the sofa at the same time now (a miracle!), and occasionally even touch, but most of the time... there's a lot of growling. And today, an actual fight that got them both kicked outdoors for awhile and necessitated unscheduled vacuuming. :(

Repeated phrases: What do you find yourself saying ALL the time? I mean out loud, not in your journal you silly person! This time of year, for me it's either Close the door OR (!) Get off the heating vent! Seriously, the whale-cat can form a hermetic seal over that thing, with all his splorch and his fur. :0

Tonight's SPN: Rewatch? Or skip? What would Dean do? It's his birthday, after all... Though I'd be more likely to do the opposite of Dean anyway. ;)

ETA: Ooh, it was "Fresh Blood." That one I'll always rewatch. \o/

I've got a couple of people who haven't been around for a year now, probably, and actually I have never thought to take them off. I guess I thought maybe they'd be around one day again. It's funny isn't it? I mean I guess people lose interest and forget to log in, but it's strange how people just drift off...
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphorshalfshellvenus on January 24th, 2008 08:54 pm (UTC)
The drifting off is different, because you can at least usually email them.

But deleting your journal and just disappearing... I still held out hope that bluesister would return, but she hasn't resurfaced anywhere else, so I guess the online fandom thing wasn't for her after all. *sniffles*

BTW, I made a Supernatural version of your game as well, but so far no replied (but I just made it).

It's tough. I usually take them off if they deleted their journal/the journal has been deleted for a while. If they just stop posting, I keep them on fairly long especially if I have fond memories of them.
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphorshalfshellvenus on January 24th, 2008 08:55 pm (UTC)
I still held out hope on bluesister for awhile, because she deleted everything and disappeared without warning, and I'd hoped she'd change her mind. But no. :(

Now if they just stop posting, they might be on my f-list for YEARS if they're someone I really liked.

And one of them DID come back, but chose a different user name. So maybe the hope was worth it anyway. :)

Wait, wait, wait... Turkeys? Just walking around? Like, are you for serious? *boggles*

And LOL! at 'unwise'. Indeed.
The Coalition For Disturbing Metaphorshalfshellvenus on January 24th, 2008 08:57 pm (UTC)
Yes-- wild turkeys! Which are disturbingly large, and since you can see them up close... the resemblance to the vulture family is more obvious than one would like to think.

They used to haunt one of the communities on the city's bike path, a community with a lot of farms and rural-type spaces. They'd be on people's roofs, these giant stupid-looking birds! Then they started to multiply with a vengeance and take over the parkway (they're a bike path hazard now). Soon they showed up at my office, which has a small wetlands area on the property. And again... they've multiplies. :0

Yep, I also keep some people on my flist even if many of them haven't updated for more than 2 years now. Just in case, I guess.

Aww cats can be insane but I love them. <33

I'm glad to hear this, because I personally am a sentimental fool and I have no idea whether that's extreme or something that a lot of people do.

I love our kitties, but I wish they liked each other better. :( Both want to be the dominant cat, which is where the trouble lies.

If you look on my flist, you will see shadowfeel. Feelie died three years ago or more and, even though he'll never return, I keep him on there... And he will be there until I am no more.

That is exactly the kind of thing I'd do as well, just to have those memories to go to. ♥

I miss bluesister, too. She was one of the first people on LJ to strike up meaningful dialogue with me. For a few weeks after she disappeared, I kept thinking she'd come back with a super-seekrit new name. :(

But you know where stele3 is, right?

Me too-- obviously, I've kept my hopes alive for MONTHS even. And gone to the desperate method of seeing if she resurfaced on InsaneJournal or MySpace or some other place instead, but no-one with her username matches up (same name, but clearly not her).

I do know where stele3 is, thanks! Though I wish she'd just come on back over here (totally understanding why she does not, just... that would be more convenient for me).

Clearly, there are a lot of us who miss her! Wish she hadn't left. I keep hoping she'll be back someday...

What do you find yourself saying ALL the time?

"Rogers card or phone number?" ;P

That and I've almost answered my home phone with "Thank you for calling Rogers Video" about three times.

Stupid work...

Oh lord, auto-pilot is the bane of my existence. In all its forms-- including every time I head up a certain street and miss uncommon turns because that's my route to the office! Fortunately, I catch on somewhere before getting on the freeway. :0

stele3 is over on GJ. She's got an RSS feed here, though. :)

I've got her data for where she moved to-- just wish she were still here on LJ, since I really don't visit other sites at all.

Never tried the RSS feed thingy-- how does it work? Do you subscribe to it, and the person shows up on your f-list same as always?

I go through my f-list about once a year. If they deleted then I take them out. Although I do do a search to see if they just changed their name but if the journal is gone I let go.

but their last parking lot appearance was over a year ago just days before Thanksgiving. May I say, that seemed... unwise at the time.

I would agree with that assessment. Clearly no sense of self preservation.

Bad kitties!

I always say definitely! oh and at work it's Kill Me PLEEESE!

I honestly wondered, since it's a huge office, whether anyone just conspired to

*ploomf!* "Oh hey, look at that. Totally an accident." *puts turkey in trunk for free Thanksgiving dinner*

Bad kitties!
It gets frustrating. The one cat is about 12, and the other came to us 3 years ago as a kitten. He spent all his time jumping on her and annoying her, and she never stopped being pissed off about it. Plus, he randomly attacks her-- so most of the growling is her attempt at a pre-emptive strike. But still!

"GO PEE!"

Yelled at the top of my lungs at the dogs while standing on the edge of the deck. The girls will not go without someone commanding them to. I'm sure after five years the neighbors all think we're nuts.

Unless they have dogs, in which case I'm sure they've been through this themselves!

Can you imagine living somewhere like Minnesota and going through that? Thank goodness you're in Texas, where the winters are more tolerable.

Yup. I have like 10 people I just can't bring myself to cut.

What do you find yourself saying ALL the time?
One of the following, "It's so cold." "I'm so cold." "It's so fucking cold." "OMG, I'M SO COLD!!"

*shivers* New Jersey in winter-- ack!

Though I'm miserable enough in Sacramento, partly because the price for natural gas is ridiculously high and so our house is arctic. :(

Sent you some email humor-- hope you got it! :)
