*pokey*

Did you ever get around reading that story I pointed out to you? Because I was wondering whether you could tell from the style alone that the author is French (since I know you do a lot of Britpicking). Mostly because I'm curious if it's mainly a feature of ESL people that they can't tell the difference between a good other ESLer and a first language person.

You know, there IS always email.

It's open in a window at work, but I haven't started it yet. I have several writing assignments due or pending, and today I got ratholed into some tangential discussion on your journal thanks to metafandom and people going off on something that had nothing to do with your larger top. Whee.

This is my edited post
Darn, now I told you what I was curious about. :)

Yeah, I'm sorry about that. There were moments when I was beginning to wonder if I had somehow ended up being linked on some pro life newsletter with the kind of comments that came when my big issue was that I consider it OOC when certain types of characters are written as not taking birth control or even worse apparently not even knowing about it.

Darn writing assignments!

That makes sense, given that the comment I originally made felt to me (and several others who know me) to be on the order of "War is bad." And then people show up to argue about that, like it's evil. And yes, there are times when war DOES serve a purpose, but that doesn't mean I care to get sucked into other people's issues with it.

I'd have told them to take it elsewhere, if it were me. The original post involved fandom and characterization, and that discussion? Was apparently somebody else's entirely different ax to grind. :\
