PB Slash Awards finished-- Thank you, everyone!
Here's my beautiful banner for "Best Slash Author" from the pbslash_awards:

Thanks to everyone who voted for me, and special thanks to haloisbent for organizing the whole thing!

I missed the original announcements for being AWOL early last week from LJ, and then... the dreaded power fluctuations from the wind storms. Now I can squee properly! Whoo!

Well, you might like this one too, then. Both of them were made by icon-making genius girls for me after thought-provoking and incredibly high-brow *coughs* discussions about writing NC-17 fic. *g*

I would so love to friend you. Would that be okay, knowing that I'll never read any of the Mi/Sa stories?

Is it wrong that my first reaction is say, "Uh, are you sure?" Heh.

Seriously, that would be totally fine with me. A heap of folks on my flist aren't Prison Break fans, so you definitely wouldn't be the only one not reading my Michael/Sara stories. By the way, who is this MiSa of whom you speak? *shuns schmooshed ship name*

Who what? Is this your Moonlight show? (I've seen the recent squee).

I don't even know if it's on network TV-- we don't have cable. Thank goodness for DVDs!
The Good, The Bad and The Lanathelana on January 12th, 2008 09:26 am (UTC)
Yep, Moonlight. It's cheesy fun, the male lead is Australian, spends a decent, yet not obsessive time shirtless and there are cute fight scenes. It's on Fridays on CBS. However with the strike there is only one more episode left.

Tempting me with Moonlight, hey? I have to admit, I've been lurking and sneaking peeks at youtube, because, hello, hotness. Not to mention David Tennant's (the Tenth Doctor) ex-girlfriend playing Beth. It's on down here at the moment, but I've decided to 'save' it for the long months ahead when PB is on yet another freaking hiatus and BSG is nowhere to be seen and I've finished my Farscape rewatch.

You're obviously liking it?
The Good, The Bad and The Lanathelana on January 12th, 2008 10:05 am (UTC)
Yeah, I really do. I mean it's not perfect, but it's the first time I felt it was worth getting charmed by a couple since... Mulder and Scully? Michael and Nikita?

The pilot is a bit rough, but around episode 4 it started getting really good. Heck, by that time I wanted to start writing gushy writers about Why Moonlight gets right what the other shows get wrongwrongwrong. (preliminary excitement, it happens sometimes) It's kinda like a lot of especially WB shows try to position them as a romance and Moonlight is the only one that is actually convincing doing it. I dunno. Maybe it's just something about the writing that really resonates with me, but it works for me because even though I'm extremely picky with couples, here I feel I can actually see what attracts these characters to each other, why they are there and what they get out of this relationship.

And it's, for a change, not another example of me getting sucked into an obscure and truly weird show I was able to sucker in a whole bunch of fans who are a lot more "shipper-ready" than I am.

(speaking of which, that journal I linked to? With the Moonlight picture spams? Person huuuuuge fan was BSG and Farscape, recently also did a Farscape rewatch; small world :D)
Genevieve: michael and nikita by dricks_artmsgenevieve on January 13th, 2008 07:21 am (UTC)
Ah, Michael and Nikita. The reason I started writing fic. I still adore them, and actually have an unfinished monster WIP in that fandom.

I also adored Mulder and Scully, but I didn't have a computer back then and wasn't online and had no idea that anything like fanfic existed. It was a fairly blissful fannish life, lol!

I *will* eventually give Moonlight a go, and will let you know what I think, if you're interested?

Well, I make no promises of Moonlight being/staying great (though I'm really surprised how many people on my flist, heavy shippers, light shippers, slashers) seem to have gotten into it lately.

But I can promise that the leading man is very, very neat to watch :)

(though somehow I seem to be more a Beth/Sofia Myles person myself, got my hands both on Tristan and Isolde and on her Dr. Who episode (she was awesome in it) because of Moonlight)

I'm very blase about new shows these days, and I suspect my plan is to wait and see if they *do* turn to drek before I get out the DVDs and get hooked.

I have seen the leading man, and I approve. *g*

I also have to say, my own obviousness with my preferences amuse me. For example, I recently made a bunch of Mulder/Scully from X-Files picturespam and when I looked at them, I realized that the "advertising pic" that was out of the cut tag, always showcased Mulder more than Scully (which is silly, because it's not that I didn't love Scully, just the opposite). And here I posted three Moonlight pictures and all three show off Beth's face more than Mick's :)

I'm doing my best to talk her into LFN, but so far she scoffs at (a) it sounding too procedural for her and (b) she's Russian and the thought of a woman named Nikita when to her it's a boy name annoys her [I keep telling her that that is not their fault, Luc Besson started it].

It's my nemesis, so all forms are equally bad! Though K/S or S/K has a certain attraction. Darn that cracktastic Owen/Lance/Paul!

Recovering from the holidays now? Not keeling over in the heat?

*laughs*

I have a very good friend with whom I share several fandoms. Without fail, in every single one of those fandoms, her OTP or favourite character are trying to kill *my* OTP or favourite character. I think I've mentioned her to you before? She's a huge Caroline Reynolds and Brinker fan.

I really do have a problem with the word MiSa, though. It's all kinds of wrong, and the sight of it in an author's notes will actually make me skip over a story.

My city has escaped the worst of the heat so far (mind you, we've had lots of thunderstorms instead) so it hasn't been too bad. Both husband and I went back to work on 2nd Jan, and those two weeks of holidays are little more than a distant memory now.

Your kids are back at school now, yes? Hard to get used to school resuming so quickly after Christmas, and let's not forget that freaky mid-year start, lol! The new school year here starts at the end of January, you see.

Hah, sounds like me and dangermousie. Except she is usally the shipper and I'm the anti shipper. Every show I love she thinks is boring and too procedural, most shows she loves fail to really draw me in (Farscape, BSG, Firefly, Dr. Who). When we do share a show (Roswell, Buffy), she usually ships like mad and I usually think the OTP is overrated, bordering on boring, taking away from the cool procedural stuff or I even root for or have affection for the person trying to break them up (Max/Liz Roswell (loved Tess), Max/Logan Dark Angel (scull numbingly boring), Logan/Veronica Veronica Mars (poisonous and he should fall off the next cliff; liked even Duncan in comparison and wanted Veronica with Wallace; ).

In fact the only thing we do seem to agree on is Moonlight and Mick/Beth there :) (Well, and mutual deep dislike for Felicity :D)
Genevieve: nikita gun by voleousmsgenevieve on January 13th, 2008 07:36 am (UTC)
When we first met, this friend was a huge Madeline/Paul fan (from LFN) and I was a Michael/Nikita fan. Natural enemies, lol!
The Good, The Bad and The Lanathelana on January 13th, 2008 09:17 am (UTC)
Well, at least those two pairings are somewhat compatible, no? Even if you decide to focus more on one or the other. Unless she was rooting for your OTP to fall off a cliff so the show could spend more time on her OTP. :)

I was never in the LFN fandom, but somehow I assumed that most people probably liked/were interested in both pairings.
