Yikes

Yeowch!

Oh, lord. /o\

I had gum graft surgery yesterday. I'd had it about 9 years ago for a different part of my mouth, but that was with a general anaesthetic. I hadn't fully considered what local anaesthesia would mean.

I'd worried about how long the surgery would take, and whether I might be bored out of my mind while it was happening. (Honestly, until I discovered a few years ago that I have ADHD, it never occurred to me that other people don't spend their lives worrying quite so obsessively about potential boredom the way I do).

What I should have worried about was that for dental work, "local anaesthetic" means novocaine, and the worst thing about novocaine is the ungodly pain involved in administering it! Here, that included injecting it into the roof of my mouth. Horrible. It left me shaking. It's going to be hard to talk myself into going through that again in 3-4 months. :O

Then they sent me home with stitches and some putty-like stuff wedged up against the roof of my mouth to temporarily help protect it. That stuff tastes weird and bad, and it wasn't until this morning that I realized what it reminds me of, creating the perfect opportunity to use a TV-show quote: This stuff tastes like Bandaids! \o/

Yes, Breaking Bad FTW. So, at least there's that. :D
