Beta Begging and other ramblings

First off, I need a beta with excellent grammatical skills and possible idea-flailing for my kamikazeremix fic. I started it last night (I can hear PT and GGJ cringing already), but much as I'd rather write this one in present-tense the original fic is in past-tense and that means pain over past-tense-as-present and distant-past-tense-as-past. Are you that skilled? Can you help? *is hopeful*

While on vacation, I stopped by a cat shelter in Oregon City with my daughter and niece. It's where my sister got one of her two kittens, and it has the cats/kittens all roaming free for petting. I thought I knew what "short-haired" meant for cats, but there was a gorgeous black cat there with fur like deep-pile velvet. Seriously, 1/4" long at most! Never seen that before- I've had the short-haired cats with poofy fluff (Tigger), thick & glossy fur (The Whale), and bunny fur (dear-departed Thor). Ultra-short fur would do wonders for HalfshellHusband's allergies.

Speaking of cats... The Whale is now on a diet, after Lauren came home and weighed him in at 22 lbs. (previously only slightly chubby at 19.5 lbs). The kids took to heart the story of when HSH and I went to the coast for 3 days years ago and left Thor in the garage with a full tank of food. We told George's sister the cat would be fine (hey, if he ate all his food in the first few days that'd be his problem). But she checked on him anyway, and did what we feared: "Poor kitty, you're out of food! Let me get you some more." When we got back, the tank was empty again, the litter box was full, and Thor's head was fat. :0

Work has been maximum flail, hence no real posts after the teal deer extravaganza on Sunday. You're probably not sorry. ;)

Sam & Dean Gen

Supernatural Gen Drabbles: Stanford Kaleidoscope (PG-13, drabble set)

Title: Stanford Kaleidoscope
Author: HalfshellVenus
Characters: Sam and Dean (Gen, Drama, Drabbles)
Rating: PG-13 (language)
Summary: Three overlapping scenes dating from Sam's departure for college.
Author's Notes: On the way to writing a slash drabble with this same theme and structure, I wrote these three others which are all different takes on that angst-laden Stanford period.
For 100_ghosts, this is "Once Upon A Time."
