"Only" 97F today...

... have I mentioned the "grateful for small things" when you live in this climate? Gah. At least it's not 100, and the temperatures are dropping in the next few days.

I went cycling early on Saturday afternoon (too much going on in the morning). The first part of the ride wasn't too bad, but the last twenty miles were hot. Half of the water went "on" instead of "in" and I had to stop for more, as it was close to 100F.

And when I got back? Both cats were sacked out inside on the floor, but one of them was lying in a patch of sun. The house was nearly 80 degrees inside!

Saturday night, we saw Iron Man. Really enjoyed it, though the main character was so assy at first that I wondered how exactly they'd bring him around. Loved his creations and his "test trials" (especially the ones that went badly!). Should I be disturbed at finding Robert Downey Jr. hot in this movie? God, those arms! The curve and the muscles in his back. Guh.

I did some yard work on Sunday, which (like so many other times) consisted largely of doing something besides the thing I'd planned to work on. Got the climbing roses pruned off entirely (they bloom only once, so I'm planting something else there that's lower-maintenance). But my unexpected task? *sigh* Dear ornamental plum tree: "ornamental" means non-fruiting. If I wanted to prune and cull to relieve your sagging limbs, I'd have planted a cherry tree instead.

Which can still happen...
