I've Got Your Demon Box Right Here...
Reaper is new tonight, and so help me I will record it. WILL. Because House, M.D. is a repeat, which doubles my chances of remembering.

Tomorrow is the last day to sign up for Round 6 of the Prison Break Fic Exchange. We've got a bunch of great authors so far, and if you were thinking about it the time to decide is pretty much here! Signups go in this post.

Lauren barely qualified for the school's Spelling Bee last week (i.e., did less poorly than the other 5th graders in her class). She's out of the running now, but even so I was really surprised. My husband keeps saying, "She's a good speller," but actually no: she does well on spelling tests, but then the word immediately falls out of her brain when the test is over! And worse, she does not suspect that she's misspelling words, so she doesn't go the extra mile to verify. I fear she might instead be afflicted with my Dad's spelling, which includes (as an adult!) "holliday." Seriously.

Lauren made a commemorative poster for Christopher last June following the Balloon Funeral for "Bob" the dead balloon (I know I posted about this, because it was one of the most WTF events ever. Christopher was in tears over a balloon for heaven's sake). The poster features bits of Bob (his "face"), and notes that it was "akxedently poped" by HalfshellHusband. I mentioned this to him:

HalfshellHusband: Yeah, I popped it. They really blame me for that.
Me: No, apparently you Poped it instead. And I'd like to know how that was possible!

Wow. So this could go on for awhile still. :0 I tell you, just finding places to display all the kids' stuffed animals has been a real challenge, because they've reached the age where I can't sneak any of them away. They remember them ALLLL. Criminy, even balloons with faces get names. PENCIL ERASER HEADS get names. o_O

And awwwwww to the poster.
:D It's cute AND funny all at once. And though one side of the balloon's face has come untaped from the paper (that part is honestly kind of creepy to me, really), that poster likely will not be going anywhere soon either. :0

Ah yes, quite a bunch of us, isn't it?: Chucklesunhobbityhobbit on December 4th, 2007 08:46 pm (UTC)
That would lead to some fantastic conversations...

"Why do we have a balloon for a pope?"

"It was a really, really bizarre accident."

"An accident?"

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you."

A Poped balloon! With a funeral! That's possibly the funniest thing I've heard all day.

Hee-hee! I like where this scenario is going...

A Poped balloon! With a funeral! That's possibly the funniest thing I've heard all day.

What's more bizarre is that I've been looking at that poster for over 5 months now, and it was only last week that I noticed what it actually said. Christopher, who is 2 years younger than Lauren, loves that she made the poster (it's taped to the bottom of the bunk above him, where he can and will see it every night). But at the same time, HE is horrified by her unique spelling of "accidentally." :0

Kids are crackalicious, a balloon funeral. Spelling is up there with math in subjects I try to ignore exist. My saying is that without spell check I would have never made it college. ^.^'

I completely forgot that House was old tonight, willful ignorance I suppose; now I'm slightly disappointed. Reaper is run though. :) Plus it's Part Three of Tin Man.

I'd consider the PB fic exchange, but I've only actually seen the first season. I keep meaning to see the second and third one but school and work have eaten my life.

Do not mock those of us without cable! *cries*

Well, I'd definitely say the last Fic Exchange worked out well for you. ;) And really, we ALWAYS get more than one request so far for a Season 1/pre-series story, so I wouldn't consider that a limitation just yet. *is wily*
