Supernatural Slash Drabble: Aftertaste
Title: Aftertaste
Author: HalfshellVenus
Characters: Sam/Dean (Wincest)
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Pre-series drabble on "Taste" for 100_ghosts.

x-x-x-x-x

It isn't a bar, only a beer in someone's room, because the world cares that Sam's underage now and he can't just walk into those forbidden places on the heels of his father's determination.

Just beer—smoke but no atmosphere, no green eyes scanning the room before meeting his with unspoken promise.

Tangy, bitter, sharp—so fucking familiar—and the memories collide: Dean's bed, parking lot shadows, lust-warmed skin, and Dean's mouth on his that tasted just like this, just like.

God—Dean.

I have to do this, he'd told himself last summer.

Chasing his future meant leaving Dean behind…

Thank you! This one just begged to be angsty, for some reason. Oh, Sam...

Thank you! It's true what they say, you never know what you had until it's gone. :(

This was so sad but endearing at the same time.

I have to do this, he'd told himself last summer.

Oh Sam, how normality beckoned you but you battled you concious because you had to leave the one person who loved you more than life itself.

Thank you for sharing.

because you had to leave the one person who loved you more than life itself.

The price Sam had to pay for even just having the future he deserved was far higher than it should have been. Darn his father's ultimatum, and the uneven fate that made Sam and Dean want different things. :(

This was gorgeous. I will never get how you put so much amazing detail into 100 words but I am always thrilled to read it.

(Oh, and I just friended you. I thought I'd done that months ago...)

Thank you so much!

That Stanford era... it kills me to begin with, but thinking that there might have been more between Sam and Dean when Sam walked out is an ache that never stops.

Ow, damn. That ending's killer.

The whole Stanford era in those boys' lives has this wonderful built-in ache. Gen or otherwise, you know that had to have nearly killed Dean, and I like to think it was hard for Sam as well. :(

Ouch, but in a good way. ;)

Dang it, Sam. Dean *is* your future.

Dang it, Sam. Dean *is* your future.
If he could have had Dean without that life-- or his father's banishment-- I think he would have chosen that in a heartbeat. :(

They just seem so broken apart. Functional yes but emotional train wrecks apart. :pets Sam:

Functional yes but emotional train wrecks apart.
They've had some really tough times together, the Stanford Years being some of the biggest. *sigh*

Awwww, poor Sam! Love this little drabble from Sam pre-series.

There's the hidden angst too of knowing what Dean has to be going through, stuck far away and knowing that Sam chose to leave.

It's a festival of angst, but don't we love it!

Thank you!

Funny how this prompt, which would usually veer off into sensuality, went the other direction entirely.

The pain of something lost is in direct proportion to how wonderful it was when you had it, even if you didn't realize it at the time.

Poor Sam....

And you know that somewhere on the other side of the country, Dean's heartbroken over all of this too. *sigh* The Stanford years...
